A PRETTY GOOD START
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I looked pretty carefully at your protected lists and agree with just about all of them -- for what that's worth. My only major comment is that I think Colorado would prefer to lose Ryan Graves rather than Nazem Kadri, and my only minor comment is that I think Los Angeles would prefer to lose Olli Maata rather than Kale Clague. (But I could easily be wrong on both!)
Nice job!</div></div>
You’re absolutely right about Oli Maataa. He’s essentially a stop gap in their rebuild and will be gone when his contract is up anyways.
And you’re probably right about the the Kadri/Graves situation as well. With Byram coming up, I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the big Colorado defensemen get dealt before the expansion draft happens.
Johnson has the NMC but I bet they’ll try hard to move him out.

Marleau’s 3 year deal was a huge mistake, but Spezza’s 1 year has been pretty successful.

Cap space, my dear boy. And I don't know who you got your intel from, but Dumba is NOT an offensive D. Rielly, on the other hand, most definitely is.

Fair enough. He is a solid prospect. Might be tough to fit in AJ’s contract when P-LD will be asking for a big raise, too.

Again, you will never get Vilardi.</div></div>

He didn’t look out of place at all and for him to be just under a point per in the AHL was very good considering he wasn’t even on the ice for basically an entire year!
Kings decline this trade so fast.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bf3351</b></div><div>LA could be picking Stutzle(as they should) and Kapenen is not a top 6 winger on most teams he just seems like it because he plays in a very offense oriented system. Do you really think if Kapanen played on a defensive rebuilding team like LA, he would put up over 50 points? Highly unlikely. Not a the cause of a future 1C and current 2C, you wish. Not only that, the last thing Toronto needs is a top 6 center due for an extension in 2 years. Get real. If Kings wanted Kapanen they'd trade Lizotte and Roy for him, but it'll never happen. We don't want or need him. Plenty of other options and no hurry for us</div></div>
The same Gabe Vilardi who’s played only 10 NHL games and is less than a PPG in the AHL? Calling him a sure fire top 6 is a very Kings-fan way to look at it. LA has a backlog of centre prospects like I’ve never seen before. Vilardi is falling down that depth chart a little every day. That’s reality. He’s also spent almost his entire pro career on LTIR. He’s one big hit away from going back on it and the league, the Kings and everyone else knows it.

Probably true. Hawks were just a placeholder for the deal needed to get Johnsson of the books.

Kapanen is a 2nd line winger on any other team and he’s still just 23. After this draft, LA will have Byfield, Turcotte, Kupari, Thomas and Madden up the middle.

Cap % are important when comparing similar valued players, I know it's subjective, but no way Mathews and Marner McDavid or Kucherov level of play</div></div>
I'm not saying they are. I'm saying that's what they'll be paid. Draisatl got 9m right after McDavid signed. So is LD worth that? Probably not. He got it because he could.

Percentage of the cap. When those two sign, the cap will be almost 10m more than when McDavid signed. Also, this crop of RFAs will produce a few 10M+ players.

Very similar to mine. I had Marleau traded and Brooks , Bracco and T. Moore up. Defense is still quite underwhelming but at least we know it all fits!
