Smith and Lazar should definitely not be roster regulars. They should be healthy scratches most nights.</div></div>
This wasn’t meant to be a complete ACGM, so I didn’t bother with singing RFAs. Similarity, not familiar with the bottom of the roster. Mostly just about the Hellebuyck trade

Fair enough, his salary is 8m this season. I was thinking of his cap hit. Regardless, I’m sure the billionaires in charge can cope with it.

You are asking to the Hawks to pay 6 million dollars (since they can't buy Murray out) for a pair of 4th rounders as in not going to happen. I get not wanting to pony up a 1st, but that is the value it will take to move 6 million in salary (ask your GM about Monohan). I also get looking at other options of which a buyout of Murray is probably the best one.</div></div>

Why does everyone in ACGM comments purposefully ignore that Murray’s salary is already retained by the Senators? You’re not spending 6M on him. Get the math right and try again

Point stands. Their season ended because they couldn’t score. Nylander has been their top playoff goal scorer over the past few seasons. They won’t be trading him for a defenceman nor should they be

This isn’t how GMs actually think. Bailey was also bought out right away, and maybe Murray would be, but he did actually post an above league average save percentage last season. There is value in having him on your roster as a potential trade target at the deadline if he happens to stay healthy

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HughMann413</b></div><div>I'll post basically the same as what I posted to the last guy...yes, you are right, it's not THAT bad for Toronto. However, using your roster, you still have 3 roster spots to fill with not enough cap room to sign even 1 minimum salary player. Somehow the Leafs need to free up 2 - 3 million at minimum. They don't have a lot of options to do this and ideally 3 - 4 million to fill out the roster is needed. A big contract WILL be moved. Who? IDK. But Nylander, Brodie or possibly Mariner will most likely be their choices.</div></div>
They don’t have to fill those roster spots

Couldn’t really crack the Leafs roster, but maybe a chance at some minutes with a tanking team could unlock something

Why not trade Matthews.....he hasn't resigned either
Go over the list of upcoming UFAs in 2024..... by your logic they should all be traded
Since the Leafs are in a win mode in 23/24, highly unlikely they are going to weaken their team for futures.</div></div>

It’s a one year contract, and the entire point is to trade him to a contending team at the deadline anyway.
