So if Matt Murray has an 8 million dollar salary and the Sens are retaining 25% how is an acquiring team NOT paying 6 million? I'll hang up and wait for your math lesson..

Fair enough, his salary is 8m this season. I was thinking of his cap hit. Regardless, I’m sure the billionaires in charge can cope with it.

It’s another conspiracy reference, since that’s all you seem to do. Which is once again referenced in this very thread. Didn’t think I had to explain it to ya, but happy to educate!

Are you calling trolls a conspiracy theory?

This isn’t how GMs actually think. Bailey was also bought out right away, and maybe Murray would be, but he did actually post an above league average save percentage last season. There is value in having him on your roster as a potential trade target at the deadline if he happens to stay healthy

It is absolutely how it works... GMs take advantage of other GMs tough situations. Why would any GM willingly help the Leafs? Of course they are going to use their leverage in their favour. Is it your first time watching hockey?

Just because they can, doesn't mean they will want to. You will have to give them a good incentive to waste their money (A better sweetener)

Billionaires don't get to be billionaires by buying 2 4ths for 6 million when the going rate is a 1st for that kind of money.

To be quite honest, the Wirtz family aren't billionaires. They're just multi-100s millionaires. LOL. The family that owns the Chicago Cubs though are billionaires. :-P

**EDIT** I googled the Wirtz family. They're billionaires. I stand corrected and I left my original post to show that I admit that I was wrong

Complaining in no way constitutes a conspiracy. You really don't get this do you?

    Lol

Only in TO does an initial ask during a negation mean a player is unwilling to budge. Willy says 10 (allegedly), TO says 8.8 (Meier is a close comparable but Willy definitely has an argument that he deserves more) and they'll settle in the 9's I would wager. They likely are already in that range but it's not going to be reported. Why? Because it's boring. The hype media in TO doesn't get clicks with a story saying negotiations are progressing and common ground is being found. Troll nation will get mad and leaf fans happy. So nothing will be said until it's signed or imminent.

If that was all it took to move Murray he would have been gone already.
I heard Treviling is still sorting through all the offers of 1st rounders, top prospects and all star player offers he has for Murray
