Guentzal to Florida
This is sad. A goalie who doesn't play, a mid range AHLer and a 2nd? Awful

rally good bottom 6 forward. Loved his game. It was a shame we traded him but he was an UFA and we got a 3rd round pick

If we wind up keeping Granlund I think that's a good spot in the lineup. He needs to play with skilled players. Lengthens the lineup too.
That said, I expect several more moves to happen.

Minnesota Wild signed Frédérick Gaudreau (5 Years / $2,100,000 AAV)
Calle Jarnkrok deal. I like it for the Wild, Gaudreau has been a really great player and provides this cap strapped team with some cost controlled depth for many years. Even if Gaudreau does sour, the cap hit is so miniscule that it really doesn't matter. Way to go Guerin

I think it would be better suited for the pens to either trade Zucker to a team like AZ or Buffalo for purpose of buyout and then re-sign him to a much cheaper contract since they like him. They can add Kapanen to the deal so they get a young forward to actually add to their team and pens get like a 5th round pick back. Or they trade Zucker with a bit of retention like here, add Kapanen for like a 3rd round pick, and that crappy team trades Zucker with 2 million more retained to a contender for a 2nd rounder and maybe a prospect. I wouldn’t want to take Girgensons back since the pens could use that money to re-sign a better Heinen.

Pittsburgh Penguins signed Kasper Björkqvist (1 Year / $750,000 AAV)
He's 24.
Notice there is no minor salary listed.
This is basically last chance.
You either make it or they are done. At 24 as a forward you either are or you aren't.

(ANA/VGK) - Kesler, Moore for Dadonov and 2nd Round Pick [REVERSED]
I say force Vegas to give up the 2nd rounder anyway and give them a cap penalty for next season on top.

My opinion for hawks is they’re happy with Crawford. A 2 year $3M AAV contract will be a nice retirement gift. They have Subban and Delia as backups. I’d say they value keeping picks and Crawford over getting a goalie boost in Murray.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sadcanucksfan</b></div><div>Gudbranson is only 28 and has 1 year after this one while Johnson has 3. Gudbranson was also traded before the flat cap and people thought the cap was gonna go up, now teams are gonna struggle to keep everyone which is why someone like Johnson would require a first or a player around the same value to give up. If teams are desperate to get rid of bad contracts than they need to give up something else with them. From Detroit's pov why would they give a 3rd for Johnson and not get any value back? It's easy to make a trade that makes sense for you, but you need to look at why the other team would take that trade as well.</div></div>
I'm not saying Detroit should give up a 3rd.
What I'm telling you is it doesn't take a 1st to get rid of JJ.
There is a huge difference. Actually read what I type instead of assuming I think this is "fair."
Defense is always in need. Especially as guys get hurt. They have already stated they are planning a full season next year. While JJ might not be moved at deadline. There will be teams looking for defense in the year before the TDL. So it's a whopping 2 years or 1 more year than Gudbranson but at less cost and an easier buyout.
And while they might not get anything back for him. It won't cost an arm and a leg to move him. Much like it didn't to move Gudbranson.

From an ANA perspective, I think the Rakell offer falls a little short of what has been offered elsewhere, which was Addison + 2 x 1st. I assume there would be conditions on both picks e.g. both are lottery protected, and/or the 2021 1st round pick is dependent on PIT making the playoffs. In any event, I thought it was a very strong offer. Just be aware that Rakell plays his best hockey on the LW.
