There’s no way the Avs trade two 1st rounders. If they trade one it should be this years 2024. The 2025 draft class is a lot deeper and more valuable.

That would indeed be TOO much. Practically four 1st rounders AND more? Nope. Would cripple the franchise.

Colorado probably needs Pittsburgh to retain some of Crosby’s salary. It is only for one more year too. Also would get them another piece in the return.

i agree those three positions are top priority - no question.
but what abundance of bottom 6 wingers are you referring to? macdermid is the next guy in…and the AHL guys won’t play come playoffs.
i’m talking about adding depth to the 13/14/15 forwards. remember how many depth wingers they had in the cup run? newhook, LOC, kubel and strum didn’t start game 1.

But they don't care so, oh well. Actually, Kovalenko could turn to to be a good player so he's definitely not on the table, either. Behrens is likely on the table as a chip and maybe even Gulyayev but he won't be particularly attractive considering he can't come to NA for another two years after this season.</div></div>
I'm fine moving Olausson. The Avs top 9 wingers are locked up long term there's not much room.
I think Foudy oozes Avalanche hockey so I hope he stays. I remember it was said at the draft that he was the best skater out of everyone and he's showed it.
Agree, Behrens seems like the obvious chip to go.
The Avs made a point to pick twice in the 1st round last summer so I don't see them moving either of those guys.

yup he's legit the Avs only center prospect. trading a position of weakness would be shortsighted. the blueline is another story however.

If the Avs have learned anything over this last month or so of games, they really missed Sammy G. Byram ain't ready to step up yet and Girard's absence was especially felt. I doubt they trade him.

We just have no centers in the system though and we already are lacking at the NHL level…

Foudy is such a fun prospect. Who knows if he’ll be anything at the NHL level, but he’s such an Avs-type player.</div></div>
Completely agree. Foudy and Ritchie are untouchables imo. Avs have close tozero legit forward prospects. I’d be fine with Behrens going though.

the only way colorado does that trade is if lindholm signs an extension (which is doubtful given their cap situation)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Annunun will likely top out at backup goalie, if he ever reaches even that with the Avs
Toews would need to take a bigger discount than that to be able to stay
Byram is already about as good as Toews; his biggest question mark is health and I think this is going to be the year he plays 70+ games
I don't think Colton gets to 2C but I could see him in the top six as a wing. It would be great if he did make it to 2C, I just doubt that happens.</div></div>
I just allotted more $ for Toews to put the cap in perspective, but yes he'll need to take a bit less to stay. I disagree however about Byram, he has sky high potential but in this moment he is not as good as Toews. I believe he can get there but the Avs are in win now mode and I think he's two years away. This year will be a massive stepping stone for him though. Colton will be a top 6 guy it just has yet to be seen whether that will be at center or wing.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McRanteskog</b></div><div>- Shift Wood to 3LW.
- Colton will need to take a sizeable leap to be a true 2C.
- Look for Oluasson to be a factor by this time (maybe at 3LW and leave Wood at 4LW)
- Ranta probably returns from Sweden and finds a home on the 4th line too</div></div>
2 years is plenty of time to take a sizeable leap. If he has legit wingers on his sides I think he's plenty capable of fulfilling that role. I see him as a Lehkonen type, who grows into a top 6er when given the opportunity, except he can play center.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McRanteskog</b></div><div>This just further strengthens my stance that COL cannot afford to extend/resign Toews. Undo the Toews signing and keep Girard and you save yourself nearly 3mil in cap space (which you need by the looks of it).
COL fans are too spoiled. Do we all honestly think we could potentially fit 3 #1D men (Makar, Toews, Byram) on the same roster in the cap era? Lol</div></div>
When there's a will there's a way haha. Keeping Toews is 50/50 though. May or may not happen, but he's definitely not replaceable by Girard...whereas Gulyayev and Behrens are both cheaper options that can replace Girard's same abilities.

Doubt Annunen is ready to be a 1A, but I would think he is in line to be 1B with another goalie aquired that comes in cheaper than what Georgiev is going to get in his next contract. One of Girard or Manson gets moved to extend Toews.</div></div>
completely agree with everything you said. i'd prefer moving girard over manson. would imagine you'd get a better return for g and our 2 young dman are both puckmovers similar to what girard is but cheaper.

Totally possible though they would need to replace Manson's size and physicality in a free agent signing then. There's a reason they brought in the type of dman he is.

No way they'd trade 2 top 4 dman in the same summer lol. If you want 6yrs for Toews that # is going up quite a bit. And in 5-7 years the salary cap could be 110mil or something. Those last 1-2yrs of Toews would be insignificant.
