Can someone please explain why they hate the Kap trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonkeyLips</b></div><div>If you think the pens are going to be anything other than crippled when Crosby and Malkin are done you need to go back in time and watch the 2003-2004 season. Have you ever heard of Rico Fata? Former no. 6 overall pick. He was the pens 1st line center that season.</div></div>
Its better to be terrible to accumulate top picks than be mediocre for an extended period of time. Having an abundance of mid 1st round picks will never be enough to put you over the top. Almost every top team in the league had a rough period to be able to draft their current stars.

Big Moves to Come
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Paul13</b></div><div>Detroit won't want Bjugstad but someone will for mid rounder or so. Although GMJR doesn't seem interested in tomorrow, it's all about winning now so 1 of the Pens goalies and Bjugstad and some other guys will likely be moved for players who help now not picks. Finally Hornqvist has very little value at this point due to age, production and contract size plus a NTC that makes him hard to move.</div></div>
Why he only returned a 3rd, he is far from a "negative value player." Still produces at a 20G, 50 point pace.

More of an anywhere for anything cap dump. Could also be used for a 1:1 type deal for a bottom pairing Defenseman

GMJR has work to do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>Once again, delusional if you think hawks wouldn’t trade a middle 6 40-50 point forward for a legit starter in Murray who had a down season. That trade just needs to die.</div></div>
Its more or less a place holder as I mentioned, but considering Grubauaer in 2018, who is more or less a similar asset to what Jarry is, got a mid 2nd and had Orpik's contract attached, meaning he was likely worth a late first. Murray, who could boost his value a ton in these playoffs, should be that at a minimum.
Saad is likely a similar asset to Zucker, which cost a B prospect, late 1st, and Galchenyuk (likely just for salary purposes). But Zuker also had 3 extra years at a reasonable cap hit, so Saad is likely worth a little less since it'd only be for one year.

No team will take him because they think he's good, they'll take him because they would get a nice piece attached to him (especially DET) , either a 1st or good prospect.</div></div>
He was almost moved before this past season until they were able to place Rust on LTIR. He is not making $5M+ and trapping the pens from being able to make moves, they are not desperate, nor is there any trade restrictions on the contract. I'd bet my life if he is moved a 1st round pick would not be attached in the trade.

3 years for $2.2M does not warrant any of that. People are delusional if they think that's what it will take to move JJ, especially if the Pens retain salary.

flat cap
In a perfect world they hopefully do a one-for-one with Bjugstad for a bottom pair RHD with 1 year left on his contract, then find a partner to dump JJ, even if they have to retain a bit of salary, and hopefully, trade Murray for a potential top-6 RW. Its doable, but GMJR has his work cut out.

I am probably one of the few people who think he does not have a negative value, especially now with only 3 years left. His contract is only $3.25M not $6M+
At worst, the pens could retain $1M and get a late-round pick.

Hornqvist is still useful and I think they can get Seattle to take him in the expansion draft, if not, he still should be a tradable piece with only 2 years left on his deal come 2021

Penguins fans- What do you think
Don't see the Pens giving up on Galchenyuk this early. The season opener was literally their only game with a full lineup and they'll probably want to see if he can play alongside Malkin when Crosby comes back.

He's on a bad team, he's a great player.
He could take less to have a chance to win. I will give you that.
But in general you got a lot of under payment here. McCann will probably get 3 to 3.5
Pettersson will probably make 4-5
the solution is they don't resign Schultz. Which I don't have a problem with.</div></div>
I think if they bridge all of their UFA's, and do not buy out any UFA years, they will be able to get most of them on the cheap. But it is likely they would have to let Schultz walk to make this happen. Also a lot of things would have to go right for them to move $15 million off their books.

The guys AAV is $3.25 not $6.25. At worst the pens need to retain a little bit of salary to get rid of him or add a 3rd/4th round pick. There were rumors he has enough value that he could be traded right now, but GMJR does not want to get rid of him.

I think one of the three is going to spend a lot of time in the bottom 6 and could be had for a little over a million, which should even that out. Also there is the potential one of the guys on the baby pens is ready to make the jump and they let one of the three walk.

Get Zucker and Keep Kessel
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>biglite351</b></div><div>Not too long ago I posted as to how offensively, Rust and Zucker are not all that far apart (Zucker only slight edge) and that Rust is the better all around player (slight), and so the $2M increase in cap hit was highly questionable as to if it was worth it. If the Pens are adding a 1st, then Minnesota is taking Johnson too. Zucker for Rust, 1st and Johnson.
Don't forget that the Wild have been trying to move Zucker (10 team no trade list) for a year, and at least 19 teams aren't biting.</div></div>
It's mainly the fact Rust two main linemates last year were Crosby and Guentzal, but he would go on month-long scoring droughts, and his almost 40 points last year were bloated by a few good games. Agree that adding a first is probably an overpayment.
