They want to clear cap space and get a R shot d man if we do a straight trade they gain 0 cap space and the trade doesn't happen, out of errorson kronwall and green he is the easiest to move and with only 1 yr left $2m is an easy retention to get a more valuable trade in eberle

Kane is a really skilled player and yes he has caused trouble for his previous teams but even a$$hats like him know that when you want to get a new high paying contract you have to perform well on and off the ice and being its his final year on this contract he has to be perfect on and off the ice to continue his career and if he doesn't work out ship him off for a draft pick to Vancouver so he can play near home for his final year in NHL

“I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t listen and see if it (trade) is worth it, but it’s hard to find good defencemen,” said Benning. “Especially defencemen who are mobile and move the puck. I’m not shopping Taney"
“Unless it would make sense for our future, I’m not trading Chris. He means so much to our team."

He's not shopping him but will take offers and if you would rather give up the 1st rd pick with the other late rounder you will have to do the 2 second rd picks besides that i have two 2nd rd picks going out in 2018 but Det gets 2 more 3rd rd and 2 more 6th rd which can be moved for earlier rd picks later (trade deadline or draft)
