Well if Holl was gone, Lehtonen would have the inside track on the 2RD spot. Dermott isn't top 4 material yet, especially on his wrong side.

That's too much from the Leafs. Remove Kapanen or Johnsson and then don't retain on Ceci. Not sure why we would do that.

I would do a lot more than this if they blow yet another year of their window. The big stars are way too comfortable and take too many games off. Dealing one of them to fix all our roster issues would help us cap-wise and make the other guys wake the **** up.

Didn't know that about Miller. The Ducks are out of it, I doubt they're worried about moving an expiring contract in Grant.

Because this team has let way too many good players walk for nothing and that kills your depth over time. Trade him to restock the cupboards and then replace him with someone better with term by dealing from our position of strength.

Larsson doesn't suck. He's everything we need. But Kapanen is worth a lot around the league. His 5v5 p/60 is higher than many of the league's big stars. He's buried in Toronto with so much winger depth, but I guarantee he would shine in Edmonton's top six.

I don't think resigning freddie will go well for us based on goalie contracts in their 30s. Price,Bob, etc. it doesn't tend to go well. Having georgiev gives us another option who could start if freddie's ask gets too high</div></div>
I agree on Freddie. But we definitely need one more shutdown D. Defensive depth is king in the playoffs.
Take for example Kapanen for Larsson - that would give us a healthy D of:
Rielly-Larsson
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Barrie
Dermott-Liljegren
Marincin

Didn’t think you’d have to pay for the “goalie of the future”? That costs a little more than a second line guy (who has third line numbers) and a prospect who has never played an nhl game that is sporting 3 goals in the minors...it’s an underpayment trust me. You’ll need to add or NYR declines.</div></div>
Georgiev is really good but NYR fans are starting to talk about him as a Hall of famer. Johnsson is only scratching the surface of his potential and would really shine on a team with less depth on the wings. Georgiev needs to prove himself a little more before we start talking about huge returns. Remember how the Talbot trade worked out? Rangers fans gave him the same treatment.

What do you mean, the Isles make out like bandits here. They give up a lot of junk, other than Mayfield and the 3rd that makes up for Leo's contract. They get possibly the league's best grinder and forechecker, plus a great C prospect who can probably play now.

Nope, moving Kapanen for a UFA would be insane. If anything you move Barrie for Brodie, rental for rental. We need Brodie's game more than Barrie's.

Brady needs a change of scene and Leafs needs dmen who can eat up minutes. When he's on his game he's awesome. A break from Lindy Ruff will definitely help.
That is two huge pieces Toronto needs to fill. You have other forwards to take Nylander's minutes. Rangers need another young forward who is playing NOW.</div></div>
No, this is awful. You don't trade Nylander for a good backup and a #4 D. Especially when they can be gotten with lesser guys.

I'd love those UFA signings. Even better if the Leafs deal Barrie at the deadline for maximum return, then replace him with a hockey deal like Kapanen for Larsson. Barrie has been awful and we should get what we can for him instead of letting him walk. Otherwise the Kadri deal looks awful.

uh no. Johnsson is a valuable second line guy who can play in all situations. That's more than fair.
As a Leafs fan I would prefer to see them target a different backup who won't be as expensive. Someone like Campbell, DeSmith, Smith, Copley, McElhinney etc. The Leafs need to save their big trade chips like Johnsson for D.

Seriously? Giving up Hyman for those guys would never happen. Plus it decimates the Leafs' pick depth even further. They're all good players who would help us but not in this deal.
Plus the cap doesn't work. Not sure why it doesn't give salaries for Georgiev and Lemieux.
