One trade one signing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>what's the point of swapping Glass for Smith.
Smith is the better player between the two. You down graded at the same cap hit.</div></div>
Glass in 25, Smith is 33.
Glass is also someone who can play centre. If we trade Smith, we are likely to get a 3rd rounder. I rather someone who can have an immediate impact and think Glass can be good.
Also, funny enough, they have the same birthday.

There will be a taker for Smith.. if not, I would rather keep him and not sign Amadio and hope he picks it up.
I think I would swap Poulin and Ponomarev, Poulin has more offensive upside IMO.
I wouldnt mind a vet dman for 1-2 years to help acclimate Graves, but not longer.

Cant see BUF retaining that much for that long.
Also, please no on that Zadorov deal.

Younger
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>1 rather just keep smith, especially considering Sprong is never coming back to PIT.
2 that PLD trade is awful for the penguins. There is more to it than simply "getting younger." If all you want to do is drop the average age, just play the guys in WBS and not ruin the cap.</div></div>
Was trying to sign one of the younger RW and Sprong was among them, but I do agree, doubt he comes back.
Yes, it is to get younger, but you are also moving 2 contracts which a lot of Pens fans consider to be bad.

49 points in 54 playoff games. Easy to blame one player, but he does show up.

We would have to get some cap out I am sure. Smith at the very least haha.. cant see us adding 11M without sending some away.

During exit interviews, his response about extending was quite odd. Seems like he might wanna go elsewhere to extend.

another big attempt
Norris would be cool to take on. Injuries have impacted him a lot, but if OTT is willing to move him for a relatively fair price, then I would consider. Dont think the move from Pettersson to Samuelsson is worth it. Doubt OTT want MP28 anyways. They got a bunch of LD they are tryna get rid not add.
I also dont see the reason to add TvR. Keep St. Ivany there for $2M less.

Blues lmk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>DeBrusk is no more physical than Smith. I mean that is basically Smiths game is to be that little bit of sandpaper gritty winger with a bit of skill.
As for Hayes, he'd just be another old player on an aging team.
On top of it, he's got a 47.8% career faceoff. This past year was his best year ever on the dot. 8 years of his career he's been under 50%. That isn't a guy who's good on the dot. His possession numbers aren't all that good either.
I just don't see the need to bring him in. This team gets tired and blows leads. They need younger players.
In an ideal world they would trade both Eller and Acciari out, along with Smith and Rakell and replace them with younger players. But that's easier said than done to move them out.</div></div>
Fair point on Hayes. However, when it comes to the DeBrusk/Smith swap, it is not like I am giving anything up to go from Smith to DeBrusk. We get an asset for Smith and sign DeBrusk as an FA. We retain for one year, sure, but we have the cap.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>no way penguins take Hayes, the blues can keep that.
Nor is there any point on retaining 2.5 mil on Smith just to replace him with 40 pt winger DeBrusk at 5 mil.
It's like swapping 40 point wingers and now paying 7.5 million. No thanks.</div></div>
I feel like Hayes could be a great 3C. Really good in the dot and had 54 points just a season ago.
I get your point on Smith, but I feel like DeBrusk's playstyle, where he can add a little physicality, could be really good. If not him, I would take a chance on Joshua from VAN. Obviously, I would prefer to go all out and get a Guentzel, Reinhart or Stamkos, but dont think we would do that.

Trusting our youth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>what's the point of trading Smith just to sign DeBrusk?
They are both 40 point players. You can expect roughly the same production out of both.
It's like paying 7 mil for a 40 point player next season.
Hard pass.
If they are going to move Smith out, they need to spend that money on a legit top winger. Not a 40 point player.</div></div>
Sure, fair point. I do think they have different playstyles though.

Blomqvist, 22, winning backup role.
Ponomarev, 22, getting 4LW role.
Poulin, 23, getting 3C role.
If he has a good offseason, I could even see Pickering, 20, winning a bottom pairing role.
