Jets lineup after Deadline
Forwards:
- The third line (Niederreiter-Lowry-Appleton) is one of the best checking lines in hockey so I doubt they would break that up.
- Once Vilardi is healthy, I suspect Bowness will put Ehlers back on the 2nd line and Iafallo will go back to the 4th line.
- Perfetti as a C experiment has not worked out at all this year, so I would put Namestikov as the 4C and put Perfetti back on the wing who will probably be first man out if they want to get Barron more playing time.
Defensemen:
- There is really no reason to change the top 4, so Morrissey-Demelo and Dillon-Pionk will probably stay as they are
- I think Schmidt/Miller will platoon at 3RD to make sure they both get enough game action.

Montreal accepts.
I mean Winnipeg blocks the Habs number instantly, but still, Montreal would do this ;)

If McGroarty signs
Mcgroarty doesnt even play centre regularly for Michigan. This would be a huge leap for him. Also, Perfetti has great defensive metrics.

Quoting: masterjuddi

As much as I love this and want it to happen, I dont see a 19 year old coming in and centering the 2nd line on a contending team. Most likely he would be a winger in the bottom 6 with the chance to move up. I could be wrong but 2C is a big leap from college hockey
I still hope he signs and ends up on the roster

I do get what you are saying and its a good point. I just thought putting McGroarty as the 2C because Connor and Perfetti aren't great defensively. Monahan is more of a scorer which the 3rd line needs.

I like Chisholm, watched a few of his AHL games and im baffled the jets waived him and are continuing to hold onto Stanley. I doubt he clears waivers

Sad to see him go, but he deserves a real shot at becoming an NHL regular. I know Chevy has to get something out of Stanley to save face for trading up to acquire him at the draft, but it's clear to anyone watching that he is either uncoachable or just doesn't take his job seriously. It's like the one thing I disagree with Chevy on.

Lindholm is a good target, but that's far to much for him. Rentals don't get that much in return.
Carolina is a playoff team, they're not moving depth. While Winnipeg has no incentive to add an offense only, me first player and disrupt one of the best defenses in the league.
The Jets have no reason to mess with their defense and pay to give Schmidt away for nothing in the Chicago trade.

Chevy TDL Targets
 Ryan Strome
30yr old, RHW/C, 5m AAV through ‘26-27:
- Signed beyond this season, so not a rental. Affordable cap hit. Age-wise fits the core. I could see him being an option as long as he doesn’t cost to much.
 Tomas Hertl
30yr old, LHC, 8.137m AAV through ‘29-30:
- Signed beyond this season, so not a rental, but contract is long. Cap hit is high, and gets too high for his final few years. Age-wise fits the core. Don’t see him being an option based on contract length, and cap hit
 Yanni Gourde
32yr old, LHC/W, 5.166m AAV through ‘24-25 :
- Signed 1yr beyond this season, so not a rental. Affordable Cap hit. Age-wise fits the core, though is on the higher end of it. I don’t think he fits our system.
 Nick Schmaltz
27yr old, RHW/C, 5.85m AAV through ‘25-26:
- Signed beyond this season, so not a rental. Affordable cap hit. Age-wise fits the core. Don’t see ARI moving him.
 Boone Jenner
30yr old, LHC/W, 3.75m AAV through ‘25-26 :
- Signed beyond this season, so not a rental. Extremely affordable cap hit. Age-wise fits the core. Zero chance CBJ move him. If made available he’d shoot to the top of the list, either #1 or #2
 Casey Mittelstadt
25yr old, LHW/C, 2.5m AAV, RFA:
- Not signed beyond this season, though RFA. Next contract demand could be an issue. Age is perfect as he fits this core and could stay for the next. Zero chance BUF moves him.
 Adam Henrique
33yr old, LHW/C, 5.825m AAV, UFA:
- Only signed this year, then UFA. Affordable cap for this season. Age is good for a rental. Could be a backup plan if Chevy can’t find a longer term solution.
 Nazem Kadri
33yr old, LHC, 7m AAV through ‘28-29:
- Signed beyond this season, so not a rental, but contract is too long. Affordable cap hit for first few years, but too high for his final few years. Age-wise fits the core, though on the high end. Don’t see him being an option based on age, contract length, and cap hit.
 Alexander Wennberg
29yr old, LHC, 4.5m AAV, UFA:
- Only signed this year, then UFA. Current contract is affordable. Age-wise fits. Don’t think he’d extend in WPG, but could be wrong… would be a backup plan.
 Elias Lindholm
29yr old, RHC, 4.85m AAV, UFA :
- Only signed this year, then UFA. Current contract is easily affordable. Age-wise fits core perfectly. My personal preferred choice. I think there’s a good chance he’d extend in WPG. Fits our system perfectly.

Quoting: masterjuddi

I dont see how he gets a first to be honest. 21 points in 36 games and on an expiring deal does equal first round pick

Here are the reasons he gets a late 1st rounder:
1) We aren't trying to get ride of him. We can/will happily resign him if he doesn't fetch enough at the deadline. So we can set the bar high.
2) The highest xGF% of any forward on the team. His underlying numbers are really solid.
3) His production AT HIS CAP HIT. Excluding guys on ELCs, he's 6th in the league in cost per point. Find me guys on the trade block who outproduce him and making anything less than double or triple what he does. For teams who want to fill multiple needs like getting another G/D but also want to add to secondary scoring, this is a way they can do both.
Guys like him don't get dealt a lot at the deadline. It's normally more established vets, so its hard to give you a good comparable. The closest in recent years is probably Hagel. He essentially got the Hawks 2 first rounders because he had another year left on his deal too. Yea, if the Preds want the 1st rounder maybe it means we have to give up a 3rd/4th going back. But thats what Trotzy will want to trade him.
