Not the worst value but i think the Canucks would rather have quality of the return rather then quantity.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mastersp4</b></div><div>We can Offersheet PLD 1 year 6.2M so the Habs would giive 1st 2024 + 3rd 2024.
Of course the Jets can match him but they cant trade him for a whole year after so PLD walks out as UFA and the Jets gets nothing...</div></div>
I’d take Montreal’s unprotected 1st in 24’.

Ehh, not particularly convinced on either of them frankly. It really comes down to what the jets value. Faber had a lot of value for being RHD and being defensively oriented. If the jets are looking for something like that these are not players theyll be interested in

I dont think Ylönen holds the same value as Faber did though, but generally speaking i dont disagree with your value projection. Dubois' intentions mean he likely wont bring back any dragon haul.
As long as you can beat the offer of a rental buying team, i figure he is yours

I would agree that Bedard, Fantilli, Michkov go before Slafkovsky.
But maybe the others would be stretch.
1. Bedard
2. Fantilli
3. Michkov
4. Slafkovsky
5. Nemec
6. Yager
7. Dvorsky
8. Cooley
9. Wright
10. Benson
Something like that

I'm very excited. Seems like a perfect stylistic fit for Dobson.
Everything I read about him reminds me of Niklas Kronwall. Obviously not as good but makes me look forward to having him.

I just wouldn't panic and make a bad trade. They still have 2 years of control and this isn't much more than the Jets get for PLD as a pure rental.</div></div>
No I'm just a realist.. lol.. Is what it is, I didn't like the acquisition of PLD to start with so him pulling this doesn't make me like that trade anymore.. 😆
Yeah but whats the point of keeping a guy around who's just another cancer? Also I'm a believer in don't risk an injury, if PLD got a serious injury in his UFA year and was worthless you'd get at best a 3rd round pick for his negotiating rights, its not worth the risk imo.

So everybody wins by staying put.

Eh, it feels like one of those trades where something *could* be done, but the amount of work needed to make the value equal for all parties just might not be worth it.

At least Hughes has some hope around him, Gallagher being owed 8M and 9M the next two season respectively makes him undoubtedly the worst value in the league by a mile in my opinion

Gallagher is pretty much Lucic at this point but without the size that makes Lucic serviceable

Slaf doesn’t go 1. You don’t pick someone at 1 because they had a good couple of games at the Olympics and had a meh season overall, you pick the guy who has the most talent and translatability, which is Wright

They'd be better off going after someone like Trocheck honestly. He's played at just shy of a 60pt pace over the last 3 years, good in the dot, can play a physical brand of hockey.

Not much chance the Jets look at that. Left shot forwards and defenseman are the last things Winnipeg would be looking for in a Scheifele trade.

Price LTIR Draft and next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>Eh, every year that doesn’t feature a Bedard/Crosby/Matthews/McDavid type is always called a weak draft. Lafreniere was supposed to be a world breaker, and can’t really say he has convinced anyone yet. These guys take time, and it can be a wild card based on what situation they are drafted into.
Point being, not sure I could see CBJ doing that. I think some great guys will be available in the Top 12, and not sure it’s worth leveraging for Wright.
Then again, I keep getting the feeling that if the CHI pick stays with CBJ, Jarmo makes a move with one of the two 1sts.</div></div>
Let’s just compare picks 1, 6, and 10 for a minute here, because i think this is a slam dunk for columbus. Get a shot at a generational player-and minimize some risk.
Let’s start with 2018 and work back:
2018: 1. Dahlin - took a minute, but he’s quite good. 6. Zadina - bust. 10. Bouchard - could be good.
2017: 1. Hischier - solid. 6. Glass - bust. 10. Tippett - starting to inch towards the bust category.
2016: 1. Matthews - could argue he’s the best player on the planet. 6. Tkachuk - awesome. 10. Jost - meh.
2015. 1. McDavid - need I say more. 6. Zach - meh. 10. Rantanen - awesome player.
2014: 1. Ekblad - took a while, but he’s elite. 6. Virtanen - bust. 10. Ritchie - bust.
2013: 1. Mackinnon - elite. 6. Monahan - started out good, but he’s a mess now. 10. Nichushkin - meh.
2012: 1. Yakupov - bust. 6. Dumba - very good. 10. Koekkoek - meh.
2011: 1. RNH - solid. 6. Zibanejad - took a while, but great player. 10. Brodin - awesome.
2010: 1. Hall - great career. 6. Connolly - bust for a top ten pick. 10. McIlrath - bust.
2009: 1. Tavares - fantastic career. 6. OEL - solid player, way overpaid, but a good pick. 10. Paajarvi - very mediocre.
So of the last ten drafts, looks like theres two instances where it would be better to have 6 and 10.
Slam dunk for columbus.

Reread the comment, I literally said we are not trading him if he doesn't want to be traded. We technically can't anyway since he holds a NMC, Since Gally has already said he is coming back next year and hopes to get back to his usual numbers it is clear he is not waiving.

Everyone's been saying Wright will be the 2022 1st overall for the last 2 years. That's wasn't the case for Hischier or Hughes.
Nothing against them, they are solid players, but i think Wright will be elite.

Nah. If he's doing good you have no reason to trade him.
If I was Stars GM I'd avoid adding long-term contracts for 35 year olds+. More often they end up bad than good.
Plus I don't think Habs will retain a contract that long.
