Also I can’t imagine Vlad or Strome going for 3rd rounders since the whole league knows NYR is cap crunched unless salary is retained. NYR fans should all be thrilled if Vlad is traded with no salary retained for a 6th!</div></div>
Except vesey was traded to buffalo for a 3rd with no salary retained and names > vesey...lol

Trouba would more than likely not accept that offer, would want the term more than anything as this would be his last chance for big money more than likely. Not to mention his wife is in medical school and wants to stay in 1 place and that wont happen if he gets a 5 year deal

By all means, offersheet trouba and overpay so that the rangers get your 2 unprotected 1st round picks as well as a 2nd and 3rd rounder. We only paid a late 1st and a terrible defenseman for him. Then the rangers can sign their rfas and go out and get a dman from within their organization and take the rebuild a little longer but have more assets to use...

Shattenkirk gone
Ok so namestnikov is a positive value player but the return you're asking is too high IMO but seems like a good fit to send both of those players to CBJ as they have holes in their lineup and both players can be serviceable. Shatty has positive value with no salary retained.. retain salary and he has a lot more value... to add georgiev to that, who seems like a legit starter, and you're talking about a lot of value. A 2nd round pick is not even close to the return...

2 things... the rangers cannot trade their 2nd rounder as it is a part of a conditional pick from the adam fox trade... number 2, they cannot take back pretty much any salary as they are already in kind of a crunch, even though I think the idea of a reunion would be pretty good and could see something like this if they did have the cap space

My issue is that you completely ignore the numbers... his numbers are better than any defensemen on the oilers roster right now and he has not been playing as good as he has in the past. Believe me dude I watch a lot of hockey and see things too, but to think that he isnt a serviceable top 4 guy is just flat out wrong. If you dont like the trade, that's one thing. Give some other alternatives to the trade and back up your words with credible evidence, not just your opinion.

There’s a reason his last two teams cut his ice time in the playoffs. Caps nearly benched him. He’s just bad</div></div>
So let me get this straight... you are basing him be "bad" by how he performed in the playoffs, years ago... I'm more of a numbers kind of guy and if you look at possession metrics he is a decent top 4 guy who has been good on the pp. If we went with how players play in the playoffs as how good they are half of the star players in the league that disappear in the playoffs would have negative value according to you.

Why does everyone assume on this website that shattenkirk has negative value... his point totals were bad because he was INJURED... his advanced stats are still good and put him in the range of a top 4 dman... look it up. People assume that he is a negative value because some moron on the internet wrote that the rangers should consider buying him out... he is a top 4 defensemen on the oilers for sure... and as far as positive value go for pul, he has shown nothing in the nhl that has him with any value, which is why he is on the 3rd line of this team. Giving each player the opportunity to try and turn things around a little bit.

A struggling top 4 dman on his last contract year for a struggling forward... dont see the issue here... pul is going to play in Europe if he isnt traded cause he doesn't want to play for the dumpster fire oilers.

Trouba contract will effect Provorov

Sources I have looked at have troubas value at 7x 6.875M but I personally think it will be a little bit more than that. Provorov is projected on this site to get a 7x 6.275M but again I'm thinking it would be about 6.85M for 7yrs. The source I am looking at by the way is the contract predictor excell sheet that was put out. You can google it and I think it would come up and they have been pretty good as far as being pretty close the actual values with the exception of a couple recently signed.

I'm expecting trouba to be less than what people are thinking... maybe a 7x7 deal or a similar contract to hayes of 7yrs 50M. I dont think he will get anywhere near 8. As far as provorov goes, he is their best blueliner and so he does have some leverage, but is still quite young and has time to make more money on a next time contract so I see him coming in just shy of 7M AAV. Could be wrong but something like a 6yr 6.85M contract and that was hes locked up for a decent amount of ufa status but can still get his free agency contract.

Looking at advanced stats, he had the best zone entry possession numbers of any defender in the entire league... that was on one of the worst teams in the league last year...and hes super young... could be the next Karlsson lite. Definitely dont want the rangers to trade him. Could pretty much be considered one of the untouchables on NYR at this point IMO

Hartford roster and lines
Unless we trade up, we're not getting Caufield, and whoever we do draft at #20 probably doesn't start next year in the AHL. There's not 1 forward there who projects as a top 6 player in the NHL.[/quote]
I was thinking that we would probably want to trade up to grab Caufield falling to somewhere in the early teens. but yea the Hartford team needs some serious help as it just looks terrible.

I think 7.5M would be the highest that i would go. He is still an RFA and doesnt have as much leverage and if you are paying him 9M per season, he would be one the top paid defensemen in the league.

you do know that the rangers have one of, if not the BEST goalie prospects in hockey on his way to north america this year in ygor sheterkin... not taking another goalie when we have shesterkin, georgiev, and olaf linbom whom we drafted last year in the 2nd round... i think we are good on goalie prospects...
