<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>Sadly we wouldn’t be able to do all of this, as you didn’t account for the bonuses from both Brown, and Perry. That is 3.6M if I remember correctly, so we would still have to do something here to get those in. Running a 20 man roster is not ideal for us either, due to possible injuries.
Doubt Kane waives to go to Nashville, and I don’t think Nashville values Broberg, Holloway, and Bourgault that highly to be big pieces in a trade.</div></div>
you are right here. however if the oilers cap stays the same to the end of the year it will be closer to 2M in bonus overages.

To me that's not toxic, that's a player who responds correctly. 5 points, +4 in the last 5 games, I think people need to watch the guy play lately before calling him the biggest bust in the NHL.</div></div>
I never said he was the biggest bust. I will say long term IMO La loses the trade almost on Valardi alone. and the cap hit with byfield growth and 2M retain on provorov puts them in a tough tough spot where they will lose more talent because of that trade.

Just like his former coach in LA and current team mate doughty called him out to the media. Doughty didnt name names but everyone knew who he was talking about. Can tell you doughty wont forget that and will always be on edge with it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>That's not true, PLD was actually well-liked in the Jets locker room. I think people just think of him as this super toxic player but the reality is his style looks a bit lazy and he lacks defensive prowess which is really tough for a center in LA, where the system is defense based. There was no reports that he was tearing up the Jets locker room or that he was disliked.</div></div>
Just what i heard. Iknow people who work around the team. I will go with their judgement.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>I'm not opposed to taking a chance on Smith but that would very limit our ability to upgrade our defense with Roy or Pesce. If Raymond gets 7.7, Seider 8.7, Kane 6, then sign a solid bottom 6 forward like Joshua, Foegele or Carrier for around 2.5, we don't have enough for the defense upgrade with moving Fabbri. Leaves us about 1M short with a 20 man roster.
I think getting a solid defensive and physical bottom 6 forward is important. Acciari would actually fit that bill but ideally a bit of retention would be nice. He is positive on draws, physical and solid defensively, just getting up there in age for the style of game he plays which would be a bit worrisome.</div></div>
if foegele is 2.5M he is not leaving edmonton. he willbe 3-3.5M

From a goaltending perspective I think Stolarz or Brossoit would take under $3M to take a stab at starting. Offer Rittich $1.6M x 2. As long as goaltending is around $4M there is other areas the Kings can address.
With Roy gone, LA can have their seven defensemen ready with the signing of Spence.
Sign someone hunting a cup like Kane or Wheeler at a minimum for bolstered scoring to replace Arvidsson.</div></div>
if that all your moves are above I dont think kane or Wheeler will even look at this team. you are in a tough spot not many options. I think the PLD trade really handcuffed this team.

Then I would suggest you are watching the games at all. multiple nhl scouts and analyst have raved about his growth this year and that the oilers should extend him soon before his price goes up further. Multiple other nhl teams have phoned to inquire about him in trades to get him on their team.... So multiple people who get paid to work in and cover say he is definitely an NHL dman

oilers pass. even if he would waive his NMC which he wont. the oilers would not move him he is to key to the build of the team.
RNH pks, on the pp, plays center or wing. give the oilers flexibility to play dri and mcdavid together.
If you look back at the brief times he was hurt in recent years the pp and pk numbers go down drastically.
he is just to important to move and is on a value contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>I was referring to his 2023-24 stats.
That's like saying Zach Hyman is a 0.68 PPG player, like yeah technically that's his career PPG but he is clearly an 80 point player now.</div></div>
my point is 26 games is an extremely small sample size. foegele had 15 points in 15 games during the oilers hot streak not sustainable.
pinto might be able to sustain higher who knows but 26 games doesnt give the track record to show that.
Hyman now has a track record to show he can sustain that pace.
So no i would not call him a .7 ppg player until he can establish it consistently. for now you have to use they his career as that would be what his next contract will be based on.

benning played 4 years with mcdavid and they still moved on from him.
If you look this year ekholm and bouchard play with mcdavid more, ceci very little.
Also if your only legit argument is he plays with better players it not strong. good player draw in good players. wierd how benning was sent out then....
Also the report here is they had a trade to move ceci for a slight upgrade and mcdavid and the team nixed it said they wanted to keep ceci.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>My point is there's zero logical reason for the Sens to trade Pinto, especially given the fact that Norris has serious injury problems.
So the only way he gets moved is either if the return is an UPGRADE at forward (someone better than Pinto), or helps solve one of our other problems (a young NHL goalie or RHD).</div></div>
great and if you want to upgrade on pinto a current 3rd line center at about .5ppg you will have to add not the other way around. so if the sens want to make improvements absolutely you should look at upgrading on pinto it will just have the cost on the other side of the equations you have above. the Sens will have to add not the other way around.

Another mediocre offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sharcuda22</b></div><div>One of our most important penalty killers but convenient to take those minutes out of his total, also your figure includes players with small sample sizes and largely ignores the context of our team, injuries when Benning was still playing, and what team other defenders were on before they joined our team. Stats are supposed to be a supporting tool not a main argument. It is okey to disagree about player status and hypothetical trades. But i for one hope the oilers keep as many deals like Ceci around so they dont win a cup while Evander Kane is on the team.</div></div>
most people use only 5V5 to compare players as that is the most even playing field... players are neither at an advantage or disadvantage to skew their stats...
alright lets just use stats as a supporting tool. the eye test will show you Ceci is better that is why two teams currently moved on from him and he is on a bottom 2 team. on any playoff team he would be a 7-8 depth dman that is it. the advanced stats support this as well.

Realistic Off Season
I think you will have a bit more money to play with. If their cap stays the same this season brown bonus should only be about 2.
I think they will buy out Soup hard to eat 4M in minors when you are in win now. That would give them about 5M to play with to build a deeper team.
