Oilers don't. We always make sure to give the other team extra, we just like to help a guy out you know? Wouldn't want to fleece a team and look greedy.
On a serious note, I'd make this deal. Allen would be a good tandem with Smith for a combined caphit of like $5mil to give Skinner another year or two of development. Hopefully Cossa is available in the draft this year which would make losing Konovalov easier.

You realize the issues between Josh and CBJ were contractual. We wanted paid like his breakout year. Like the hard power forward that's hard to find, and CBJ wanted a reasonable deal.
Wait and see that Anderson trade before judging. I don't think your getting him for 3 million. And most likely not on a long term deal.
Personally, I don't like this deal, I don't think Domi is worth this. But it is what it is. We'll see when he's on the ice. CBJ needed a 2C.</div></div>
Domi's not a good center so GL with that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>Habs fans lol. Bergevin has been alright, but this is far from a great move. The entire league knows it but y'all still trying to defend it?</div></div>
The same "entire league" that said Bergevin lost:
Domi for Galchenyuk
Suzuki + Tatar for Pacioretty
Weber for Subban
3rd for Kovalchuk (After getting him for free???)
4th for Cousins
Then there's all of the signings.
I think the "entire league" just hates how good Bergevin is. Not a single move he makes gets more votes for Montreal win, but I can tell you who won all of those trades...

Value wise you did a pretty good job on the Chychrun deal Coyotes would still probably rejected cause they'd want a true 1C for Chychrun but still give you props

Guessing Tampa can't fit Erne into their cap. Wings give up a 4th for a good bottom 6 player. Not sure if it's exactly what Detroit needs but good value for them.

Carolina Hurricanes signed Sebastian Aho (5 Years / $8,460,250 AAV)
I think I understand the strategy from this “low ball” offer sheet. Lots of factors at play. One of the first things I was questioning was “why not give an extra $100k on the AAV and make the compensation 2 1st’s + 2nd + 3rd?” Literally no one will question that it would be overpaying for some like Aho, and it would make all the more enticing to let Aho go. So why just under $8.5mil???
This is just MTL <strong>literally</strong> trying to take advantage of <strong>what they believe </strong> is an Owner (Dundon) who doesn’t have the stones to pay 1 player a large chunk of the teams revenue of an entire year. Because if CAR matches this deal, this almost guarantees for the next two seasons they will lose $$$ and finish in the negative of their yearly earnings. <strong>Additionally</strong> , with a lockout looming, and the possibility of getting zero revenue next year. CAR will still have to pay almost $10mil, to 1 player. That’s big.
So if the Habs believe that actual “up front “ cash is enough to steal Aho from CAR (and I’m assuming that this is really their current belief, cuz why even bother then?), why give an extra 1st?
Historically speaking though... PHI tried this exact strategy on NSH with the Weber offer sheet, and it didn’t work.

(MTL/CHI) - Shaw and 2021 7th round pick for 2020 2nd, 7th round pick, and 2021 3rd round pick
MTL almost gets a full return of investment for what they gave to acquire Shaw, and manage to clear $4mill in cap space.
Does this mean Duchene to MTL?

(PIT/ARI) - Kessel, Birks, 2021 4th for Galchenyuk, Joseph
I said it a week ago and I will say it now
MONTREAL CANADIENS WIN!
This trade doesn't turn Arizona into a playoff team IMO. Pittsburgh get's a middle 6 forward and a great defensive prospect. They also get an extra 1.2 Million in cap space that could be useful in FA.
Arizona is quickly closing their window before it even opens.
Pittsburgh should be trading to win now while Arizona is trading for the future. Both teams are doing the opposite which makes no sense whatsoever.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mr_z</b></div><div>Okay. Let's iron this out. After a few days of chewing on it. I think it's a good trade for the Canadiens.
First. Watch this.. <a href="https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/video/the-chat-shaw--galchenyuk/t-277437414/c-56569203?q=shaw+galchenyuk" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.nhl.com/canadiens/video/the-chat-shaw--galchenyuk/t-277437414/c-56569203?q=shaw+galchenyuk</a>
After seeing this last season. I knew Chucky was gone because he's clearly a narcissist.
Habs save $1.75 over the next few year. And still retain Domi's rights a RFA when it expires.
Domi and Chucky are both wingers that can play center.
Chucky has more flash. But lacks the awareness and dedication to defense.
Domi is a better 200 foot player.
Domi isn't a lazy primadonna.
Domi is probably a better teammate.
I say the western conference eats up Chucky at center and It won't be a case of the Canadiens not using him properly. And he will be finally label as a flawed, overpaid, one trick pony with flashes of promise.</div></div>
Wow, someone knew what they were talking about.

The question is Kovi really NHL good?
I know stats aren't everything but look at the top scorers in the KHL. Yes Kovi led the league but the next group were AHLers at best. Leading goal sorer in the KHL, Nigel Dawes.
