<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>These comments are exactly why I don’t use this site anymore besides the GM game. But I needed a good laugh and I definitely came to the right place.
This contract is absolutely brilliant. Do you really think for a second that Kris Letang given his injury history will play out the entirety of the contract? Absolutely not. He will be sent on LTIR like the Weber / hosss deals towards the end. The contract kept the AAV ridiculously low for the initial years of the deal, and in the “ugly” years of the contract, he will be on LTIR.</div></div>
I hope he's healthy for 6 more years.
That would be good for him, and a good laugh for the rest of us.

Flip Flop Cap
My issue with the trade is the RD swap. Dallas needs to add RD, instead of simply swapping their only true RD for another one. Take Hakanpaa out of the deal and add another piece of equal value & it's one of the more fair Petry to Dallas trades I've seen on CapFriendly.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlevinKalevra</b></div><div>Easy no for Dallas. Grush is a no go. Trading Jani for Petry doesn’t ADD a RHD to the lineup</div></div>
I like Grushnikov, but he's pretty clearly a tier (or two) below the Bourque, Johnston, and Stankoven trio. With Heiskanen and Harley in Dallas for the long term future & Lindell likely not going anywhere anytime soon, Grushnikov is expendable.

Agreed, valuations on this site are wildly off from reality and I think many are going to be surprised when moves are actually made. There is a package for 2OA, but I doubt the prospect pool gets hemorrhaged for it.

I wouldn't do the NJD trade if I were the Habs. All the others I like though!
I think people are getting too caught up in the hype of this draft. Everyone has pretty much agreed this is one of the weaker draft classes. Not that there aren't star payers to be had this year, but consensus all the same it's weaker compared to other years.
If any of the current projected top 3 (Wright, Cooley, Slafkovsky) were in the 2021 draft, or even in next years 2023 draft, how would they rank from their peers with only a 1 year age gap? I don't think any of this years top 3 would crack the top 3 of all three years (maybe Wright, but again, very debatable). From a forward position there's Beniers and MacTavish last year, Bedard and Michkov next year.
I'm willing to bet if you asked American scouts who'd they'd select between Beniers or Cooley. All would pick Beniers without hesitation.
The point I'm trying to make is.... don't buy what you deem the value of a "2nd overall pick" is, but the value of the player you'd select in that position. If we all agree Wright will go 1st overall. Is Slafkovsky or Cooley really worth x2 first round picks, what will probably be a top end 2nd round pick, Guhle former 1st rd pick who looks more like a sure bet every day and Farrell possible gem prospect? (Not counting Drouin... doesn't add much trade value anyways....) I don't see it.

Until they make the NHL and produce, Guhle and Farrell are also gambles.
What if Guhle tops as a 5th dman and Farrell never makes the team?
Not saying this is what is going to happen but you never know with prospects.
You have the opportunity to get the 2nd overall pick for a mid/late 1st round prospect + a 4th round prospect, you think about it.
Remember when Reway was producing in the Q and when he dominated the U20 in Mtl at an 18yo?
Some people were calling him a sure thing and a steal as a 4th round pick.
Remember when some called Rivet, Souray and I can't even remember who was the other one the next "big 3", comparing them to Savard, Robinson and Lapointe?
Guhle and Farrell sure look good now but, until they do it in the NHL, they are still gambles.

Petry to Dallas makes sense, especially if they lose Klingberg.
Taking on Khudobin's contract back would help the trade do through.
Not sure they'd give Dellandrea though as they'll need cheap prospect ready to come in soon. Most likely trading for Petry vs picks.
Washington just traded Vrana and a 1st for Mantha, not sure they'd let him go for Hoffman and a couple of picks since.
Also, he hasn't pan out in Detroit or Washington. I'm not sure I'd want to take on his contract considering Mtl already have overpaid and under producing guys on the lineup.
Both Hoffman and Mantha have 2 years left. At this point, I'd prefer to save the 1.2mil per year with Hoffman instead of retaining half and having to end up paying 3.5mil extra to get Mantha.

I like Doughty a lot, and they could very well select him. I know Armstrong has stated that he wants the team to be younger, which may or may not affect him. They've also done a pretty good job of selecting defensemen who play together in the NHL (i.e. they are already used to each other): while many may say, "these guys are elite and they won't have a problem getting familiar with each other," it's actually a pretty big deal in a short tournament. I am not saying that he <em>doesn't</em> get selected, but Canada will have a lot of pairs at their disposal (Makar/Toews; Pulock/Pelech; Pietrangelo/Theodore) and I would assume that, if healthy, Colton Parayko gets a long look (as he is a young, talented defenseman who happens to play for Armstrong's Blues).
You could probably pick 2-3 Team Canada's that could compete for gold in a tournament like this. It'll be fascinating to see who they select if they do in fact go over and play (remember, the deal isn't done yet.). These are just my opinions, so please don't hate! :)

I am a Kings fan and I am not trying to be bias at all. Drew Doughty will be one of the best defenseman in the entire tournament. I really hope they select him as a top 2 or even top 4 defenseman to prove everyone. The Kings have been terrible for a few years and that WILL result in lower stats from Doughty. He is elite, Audi his upcoming season he will put up 50+ points and will be noted as a Top 10 Defenseman for the 2021-22 season. Anyone can argue with me all they can, pin this comment and you will see end of the season.
