That 13th pick was worthless in this COVID draft. Buffalo drafted a guy ranked 125 or something bc every teams scouts were guessing.
Patrick wasn’t going to work here.
Myers was the cost of doing business to get Ellis
The flyers sucked last year bc they had TOO MANY young players and this make over only cost them one good one: Myers.

future? what are you talking about we gave up no prospects in any of these deals. We trade picks- these guys might not even pan out. Look at our prospect pool, I think our future is fine.

Whats the Cost
Based on what's been reported, Laughton and management both have a high mutual interest in him extending with Philly, but would listen to offers if teams really want him. I can't imagine the Flyers would trade Laughton for anything shy of a 1st + or a similar package (not saying he's worth that, saying that's what it would take for Philly to move him)

I think he might. He's top 25 in the NHL over the last 2 seasons at even strength scoring and would be borderline free against the cap. Not to mention it'll be a late 1st in a questionable draft year

Rumored NSH Trade
Both Zamula and Frost are too good for an Ekholm deal along with a 1st. I think one of them could be in an Arvidsson deal along with a 1st. I’m not sure downgrading one of those 1st rd picks is worth upgrading a B/C prospect to Frost or Zamula.
Other things to think about, this decimates the ELC talent when Patrick, Farabre, and Sanheim will all need pay raises within 2 years without any big deal coming off the books. And none of this makes sense from an expansion perspective. You either go 4-4-1 and lose one of TK/Lindholm/Patrick/Arvidsson or 7-3-1 and lose one of Ekholm/Myers/Sanheim, Seattle probably doesn’t take a 32 year old winger making more than 7 mil with term. Add that lost player to the cost and PHI gets set back quite a bit.
This is the beginning of the window. No need to put the team in this much of a pickle and throw all the chips in now. Fletcher made a big mistake with expansion last time and I can bet he won’t make the same one twice.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jwilliams2k12</b></div><div>But Max had years of production before he was traded Arvi does not he has 3 seasons of good production and last year was decent. If Nashville wants to go full rebuild they’d be smart to move Ellis especially with his age and cap hit. They could get more I really don’t think so because Ekholm will get a 1st and Frost. They only get more if they see Ghost as a cap dump (which he’s not) and then can ask for another piece.</div></div>
Frost and a 1st is too much for Ekholm. If you are using the Muzzin deal as a base the prospect this somebody like Andrae or Ratcliffe.

Gaudreau has literally expressed desires to play for Philly in particular

Eichel and Savard
They don't necessarily need more center depth, but Philadelphia seems like a good landing spot for Eichel. Big market, in a position to win now, well-rounded team, seemingly good culture and have pieces that Buffalo could actually be interested in. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up there

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mulletmario7</b></div><div>My thinking with having Sanheim be the center piece is that with guys like zamula and a lil ways down the line york and maybe wyatt wylie coming up it wouldn't be that big of a hole to fill naturally. Also I think myers has a better chance to be the #2 dman then Sanheim does. Something about his (myers) game with his size skill and speed makes we think he has a higher ceiling then Sanheim.
Also just saw the friedman report that they want a rhd so maybe they could work a trade around Niskanen +++ (frost would have to be included with maybe someone like laughton who can play center along with picks obv). Jets would be getting more nhl experienced players to mix in with their core plus young pieces in Frost and picks... Just more a spitball idea</div></div>
I sort of feel that this is the start of the Flyers window and taking out a key piece from the D sets us back a way while guys like York and Zamula develop (it's taken 3 and 4 seasons for us to really getting to a point of real confidence in Sanheim and Provorov).
As to the Myers/Sanheim thing, flip a coin I think. I don't think Myers will ever have Sanheim's IQ and vision, but they're both great pieces.
