I thought about hronik coming back too I this deal but wasn't sure how valued he is in Detroit. A dman of some sort on the way back would make sense

Sign me up. Worst case Zadina turns into a 25 goal guy for Philly, but you guys get a bonified top pairing LD who suffered playing with guys like Attard and Risto this year. Fire him on there with Seider and they probably end up being one of the top pairings in the NHL.
But, maybe I'm too high on Provorov...IMO though, he's still excellent.</div></div>
I mean look at the return Anaheim got for Lindholm. I think many would argue provy is better than Lindholm as he can play big minutes and all situations (even if he isn't great on PP)

Coming from a flyers fans perspective, I know what it's like envisioning your future defense. I thought we would get an incredible top 4 of Morin, Ghost, Sanheim and Provy and alas we didn't. I don't think there is ever anything wrong with adding proven talent as it takes the weight off the younger guys

Allison hasn't put together a full Season and even still projects to realistically have a ceiling of 3rd liner. I like his energy a ton though and the same can be said for Tippet. Imo The flyers have away too many players like that what is a little bit of a problem when we lack Star Power.</div></div>
I guess the way I look at it is with young guys like brink and cates along with Allison and Tippett I just think TK is expendable. Also bringing in Dubois (or schiefle) along with Gaudrau helps with star power

Fair enough, I'd argue that most of the NHL sees Provy as a top pair dman (whether that's right or wrong of an opinion is up for debate) but he can play huge minutes in all situations. If it's schiefle instead of Dubois then so be it

The Konecny trade would be in the offseason so Cao would be less of a issue as it is now.

People really need to stop acting like risto doesn't have value around the league. Is this trade way too much for Avs to give up? Absolutely. But to say risto is a cap dump is just incorrect. Multiple teams offered 1st round picks + for risto in the off-season. Is he worth a 1st now? Hard to say depends on the market around the league right now but he should definitely return a 2nd +

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>Patrick, Myers, and pick 13 are 3 fairly high end young players out the door, plus two 2nds. York, Frost, and Foerster are good but there’s not an overwhelming amount of depth to the system after that. And Couturier, Hayes, Giroux, Atkinson, and JVR are all 28+ (last 3 are 32+) so they’re exiting/have exited their prime before their prospects can fully enter theirs. There’s maybe a 2 year overlap where the old guys are still good and the young guys are contributors before the old guys fall off and the young guys take over, but without a supporting cast.</div></div>
I mean at one time I'd agree that Patrick was a big piece but it is clear that he no longer was for this team. Myers sure had good upside but we replace him with ellis/risto so I would rather have a finished product then the hopes that someone reaches that finished product

How did the flyers mortgage their future? Still have their 1st round picks in the next two draft, still have all of their prospects (frost, York, zamula, forester) and the only roster player they traded have been replaced or were players that were not in the lineup on a regular basis (Hagg Ghost)

Fill me in if I'm off on that.
Also: It would be hilarious to see JVR sign yet another contract in PHI just to be traded.</div></div>
I think people over estimate the waivers thing with many players (not just ghost). There are teams that I think would have had interest in ghost but due to it being mid season and no one having cap space I don't think they wanted the contract. Now that it is the offseason, there may be teams that have more space and are willing to take a chance on a guy like ghost (Who after being placed on waivers was the flyers best d-Men)

Fair enough honestly, just from the sounds of treliving sounds like they are done with that core and are looking for a shake up trade. My thinking is if they know they don't want to (or can't) bring Johnny back this could be the type of trade they would look at
