Petry: https://awinninghabit.com/2022/03/26/rumor-canadiens-flyers-agree-trade-petry/
This is the rumored deal that has been discussed. Honestly not a super fan of it as Desnoyers seems like a sure fire NHLer even if he is a middle 6 prospect at best. Petry does give the flyers some insurance incase Ellis can't play next year

Konecny: I think Konecny is just the odd man out. With tippet, Allison and Atkinson on the RW I just don't know where TK fits in. I also think the flyers would get a good return for him due to age and contract.

Provorov: I think this is the definition of a hockey trade. Provy has had his ups and downs for the flyers but I think it's just time to move on. I also think jets are in a similar position as the flyers and need to make a big move to shake things up. Could also be schiefle on the return but I assumed he had more value than Dubois

I Disagree about Tk. To me he is a solid second liner that can play first-line minutes with lots of offensive upside. Allison hasn't put together a full Season and even still projects to realistically have a ceiling of 3rd liner. I like his energy a ton though and the same can be said for Tippet. Imo The flyers have away too many players like that what is a little bit of a problem when we lack Star Power.

No chance Winnipeg looks at that as they aren't trading Dubois. However, value wise, a second pairing LD having a horrible year and a small, unimpressive center don't net a young 1C.

Winnipeg is far more likely to trade Scheifele over Dubois; who is one of the untouchables.

If the habs are eating that much on Petry's deal and taking back negative value JVR the return has to be SIGNIFIGANTLY better than that

We're not trading Kaliyev or Bjornfot -- especially Kaliyev, because it makes no sense to exchange one gunner for another. And we don't have the depth to lose Bjornfot - in fact, we'll be on the phone with you guys a lot in the off-season about Provorov and Sanheim.

Fair enough, I'd argue that most of the NHL sees Provy as a top pair dman (whether that's right or wrong of an opinion is up for debate) but he can play huge minutes in all situations. If it's schiefle instead of Dubois then so be it

Good to know, wasn't sure where those two stood in terms of value for the jets

I guess the way I look at it is with young guys like brink and cates along with Allison and Tippett I just think TK is expendable. Also bringing in Dubois (or schiefle) along with Gaudrau helps with star power

I highly doubt the Habs are retaining on Petry, let alone that much. If they were you’d have to throw in your first rounder this year at least in order for them to consider, on top of taking back JVR for a year. Also this deal was rumoured before the flyers inked Ristolainen, so they probably don’t have any interest in Petry anymore, if you read the Eric Engels article this fan article is based on

I think the point was more that Montreal isn't going to retain that much unless the prospect offered up is much better.

It's kind of moot though, the deal died with the Ristolainen extension.

Yeah. I don’t know why this fan article didn’t add that in. The conversations it’s based on happened weeks ago, and the writer makes it sound like they agreed to something at the deadline and then tabled it until the offseason. It’s all speculative

Yea honestly it doesn't make much sense to me with risto signed, unless they know Ellis is done
