I’m for it.
But maybe there are shorter paths to acquiring them?
LAK have put Turcotte in top-six to boost his value…he is probably a realistic trade option. Zegras I doubt goes anywhere as hard to imagine he is getting 100 cents on the dollar today (rough season, injuries, etc).
The other one from that 2019 squad is John Beecher…who Boston has as tweener right now.

At least on here I just saw a sharks fan offer of 14th overall (pittsburgh pick)+4th rounder+Nico Strum for Casey.

Calgary sells it all
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dubcity</b></div><div>NJ gets the 3 best players and Calgary gets junk junk junk and cap dumps no thanks</div></div>
Siegenthaler and Marino aren’t junk. Two solid defensive dmen on good contracts. But this is not an offer a rebuilding team probably opts for.

Calgary sells it all
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I think Calgary has been patient…and it’s looking like it is a sellers market on dmen. If the expectations are roughly…
Markstrom = Holtz
Hanifin = 1st+prospect
Tanev = 2nd+prospect
$1.5m x 2.2 = 3rd
We would probably be taking about something like:
One of - Holtz
One of - Casey, Gritsyuk
One of - Bahl, Clarke, Filmon, Hämeenaho
One of - 2024 1st, 2025 1st (some protection)
One of - 2025 2nd
One of - 2024 3rd, 2025 3rd
And possibly another piece to get over finish line. Maybe including both 1sts instead of 2nd.
Something like…Holtz, Casey, Bahl, 1st, 1st, 3rd
That’s a big ticket, especially if dmen don’t extend.</div></div>
thats a rly good analysis, I'd assume Hanafin comes with an extenion (or the possibility of one at minimum), also Vanacek would be pretty much forced to be part of the trade for money reasons

Goalie edition
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>neo115joe</b></div><div>Gross is an UFA, but could be kept at a low avv, similar to what nj did with Lazar.
Siegenthaler is a top 10 defensive defenseman, with a stellar contract.
Vanecek is a cap match move.
And the devils need signed Rhd prospects in Ahl that need time to develop.
Novak is UFA as well. And a fourth line Center or wing that any team won't pay much for. Unless it is a trade and retain deal</div></div>
Siegenthaler is what he is, but he doesn't add much value for Nashville because there's a log jam on the Left side of their defense preventing younger guys from getting in the lineup to prove they belong in the NHL. Adding Siegenthaler doesn't help the situation so he doesn't add a lot of value for Nashville.
Vanecek I understand as a cap move but adding Schmid is unnecessary and again doesn't add value because Nashville doesn't need goaltenders.
Novak has 28 points in 45 games this year. Which would be 6th on the devils ahead of offensive dynamos Dawson Mercer and Alexander Holtz. So don't call him a fourth liner that teams won't pay much for, his price probably starts with a 1st, but I'm guessing Nashville won't be trading him and will try to resign him.
This whole post just shows you don't watch hockey outside of New Jersey and overvalue your players, which is fine, but do a little research first on other teams.

Hughes 30

A couple 1sts sure, nemec no.
I think over the next 4 years I'd rather have Bratt+Nemec than Hughes+1 mill vet. You may disagree but that's my take.
I have Bratt valued at around 9.5 mill right now, Quinn at around 14, and Nemec around 6 (But I expect that to shoot up as he develops)
The problem is after those 4 years, Hughes is a UFA, and Bratt stills has 4 years left on his deal and Nemec still has 3 years of RFA control

Nemec’s defense is good, but he was drafted where he was for his puck-moving ability.
Skip the Quinn trade. Add another Siegenthaler or Marino and we’re good on blueline. Extend Bratt, pick one of Haula/Tatar for 2-year deal, make Timo at least 6 years.

Siegenthaler - Hamilton
Graves - Marino
Bahl - Severson

I was going to say something about Seversons age but he hasn't even cracked 30 yet and would definitely help the Sens... but they could reach out to him as a UFA and not lose anything for him.
I think Ottawa's still pretty high on Batherson even with a Debrincat extension looming...... Maybe expect a call back depending on Debrincats number?

Two top-10 prospects, three more top-100 prospects, a top-4 RHD, a staring goalie, and 1st and 2nd round picks is a “small dog”.

Johnsson definitely gets claimed no matter when he's waived. He's a roster player, most waiver players are fringe NHLers or older prospects.
