<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>For an organization that employed not only Ken Holland, but Peter Chiarelli, you would be familiar with bad moves. Just like this one would be for the Canes.

Going down the offer sheet route first, the Oilers only have the draft capital to offer sheet a player within the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 7th bracket of offer sheet tiers. Necas won’t even bother signing within the 1st or 2nd, and potentially the 4th depending on how much he is looking for. The 5th and 6th bracket would be where Edmonton would likely have to send an offer sheet in for there to even be a remote chance that the Canes consider not matching, and I don’t think that the teams that they traded the requisite picks to are going to be returning those picks anytime soon. So the only chance the Oilers have to actually land Necas via offer sheet, would be in the 7th tier of an offer sheet, and for the requisite AAV of 10.725+mil, Necas is an Oiler.

As for a Necas trade, I think there is a high likelihood of him being traded in the offseason, but it would be in a package for a forward upgrade. Canes can certainly keep Necas if they want to. All they would have to do is bridge Jarvis, and they have the extra cap space for both Guentzel and Necas.

But keep going off on how Waddell and Tulsky are dumb.</div></div>

Wow, someone really took that to heart.

The offer sheet was just an example. Why do you think I didn't do it? Because the Oilers don't have the right picks. You don't have to explain to me how that works.

Of course the Oilers can throw in more capital.

I'll just give the example of Guentzel - if I had told you a week ago that he would be traded for 4 "prospects" and a 2nd and 5th rounder, you probably would have laughed pretty hard. Wouldn't you?

Yes, Waddell is doing a good job so far. But look at Zito (maybe the best GM in the league), didn't he trade a 1st and 4th rounder for Chiarot for 20 games? Everyone makes mistakes.

And I don't know exactly on a dime the Canes cap situation, but can they afford to give Jarvis a bridge worth 4.5M? And he may not even want that bridge...

And most importantly - it's only capfriendly.
