TDL playoff push
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NotDougWilson</b></div><div>I guess what im asking is who do you think has higher upside/ceiling?</div></div>
Ostlund imo. He projects as a good playmaking center/winger who can play on the 2nd line and PP whereas Rosen is most likely a speedy middle 6 sniper who could also produce on the PP. I prefer the style of player that Ostlund is and the sabres already have a bunch of players that are too similar to Rosen

TDL playoff push

Personally I like Ostlund better but I think I’m in the minority. I think GM’s would probably prefer Rosen since he’s producing in the AHL and is closer to the NHL than Ostlund (1-2 yrs compared with 2-3 years)

Whats your asking price
Luukkonen and/or Levi aren’t going anywhere I wouldn’t think unless they’re part of a trade for a top goalie. Portillo probably could be had for a mid round pick since it’s unlikely he signs in Buffalo after his season in Michigan is over

Why not? Asplund has center flexibility, has RFA status, is cheaper, and got some 4th and 5th place Selke votes last year. He just hasn’t played enough this year in Buffalo

This is all hypothetical of course but they probably wouldn’t make this trade if Granato doesn’t vouch for him and if that happens I don’t think there would be any locker room problems

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chapee44</b></div><div>If he can't get his stuff together in the pros he'll be even more disengaged in the minors. It's a bad recipe if the character concerns are true.
He would be a younger replacement for them but we have a few guys knocking on the door there. Specifically Biro is solid defensively and putting up great AHL numbers. Plus I would think Okposo is back at least for next season. Captain for 1 year would be weird, not impossible, but definitely weird.</div></div>
I like Biro, Rousek, and Murray from what I’ve seen in Roch but I’d rather not count on them filling that role especially since we haven’t seen it in the NHL for a sustained period of time. I think an established player like Greenway in the next few years when they can’t afford guys to go through growing pains learning in the NHL while they’re trying to compete

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chapee44</b></div><div>I don't think I want Greenway.
Sleeping in, missing meetings and practices, etc. Not a good character player.
Defensive metrics are good though and he has a history with Donny Meatballs so maybe.</div></div>
He’d be a younger replacement for Okposo/Girgensons, and if he doesn’t fit in the locker room his cap hit is not too much to eat or bury in the AHL especially since the Sabres won’t have a problem with the cap for another 3-4 years

Im guessing Horvat just got traded
I would not give up a 1st for Kane at this point in his career. If the Sabres really want him they can just sign him this offseason. He’s aging and offers very little at even strength so you’re just acquiring a PP distributor and they already have an elite one in Dahlin

I thought about Savoie but I think at the end of the day if Adams can’t talk Grier down to a deal similar to this I don’t think it happens. I think at this point in the Sabres timeline they won’t want to part with Savoie. Not that it wouldn’t be fair value, I just don’t think that’s where the team is at right now

Well in this scenario I would assume they move on from Mrazek which would free up another 4 million. Maybe that’s to Buffalo, or a different team

Well Dzingel was immediately waived and claimed by San Jose. Maybe Buffalo takes back a cap dump to get that return. Unless Toronto decides to go get a big name like Chychrun or not pursue another defenseman, I think Pysyk will be one of the better players at under 1mil

Mrazek could definitely be something Buffalo would look at but he also has a no movement clause that he might not waive for Buffalo and the Sabres might want a little something extra for taking back his cap hit.

Sabres Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>'The going rate for responsible 2 way RHD is also extremely high.'
What exactly is this based on? If we look at depth RHD trades of late, they haven't exactly been high value. The market disagrees with you. We've seen lots of low value depth RHD trades, from Lyubushkin, to Ethan bear to Nikita Zadorov, but no high value ones. We've seen teams value 1st pairing RHDs but that's where it ends and Pysyk isn't that.</div></div>
Lyubushkin got a 2nd and a roster player, and he makes almost double what Pysyk does, has played less than half the NHL games Pysyk has, and doesn’t offer any offensive upside. I think you’ll be surprised what guys like Pysyk will go for at the deadline this year.

Yeah I wouldn’t be too excited about it as a fan either, but I think Holland wants to add a RHD at the deadline and Miller won’t break the bank to acquire.

My thinking was the sabres shed some cap space and get much needed middle 6 help. Mittlestadt doesnt look like he’ll pan out and that might be what it costs to shed salary and also get a decent 3rd liner
