The Wild give up 7 assets for Kopitar and his age and cap hit. You're smoking some pretty good stuff to dream up something like that.

Preparing Wild for playoffs
You dont do anything at the deadline and trade Dumba in the offseason for prospects and picks (Zucker type trade). You shave as much cap as possible (buying out Rask?) . Then you sign Kaprizov, EE and Fiala for the least amount possible taking into consideration the term on each. You fill the rest of the roster with entry level contracts and save as much cap space as possible for the 2022 off season and a possible run at Barkov if he becomes a UFA. If he doesnt it still puts you in a cap situation to sign Greenway and Kahkonen to extensions. CANT take on Schmaltz's CAP HIT or TERM.

Dumba
I like this trade. But, Florida would want to send somewhat of a cap dump, for roster and cap numbers. Someone like Vinnie Hinostroza, or Wennberg. They really like Lundell, so I don't know if they'd be interested in Dumba at that price.

There's no way they trade Dumba before season's end, unless they get a kings ransom. Disrupting the team, would be one of the worst things you could do right now. Dumba will have value after the season, with the term on his contract. Plus , I don't know that the Wild are really that interested in moving Dumba.

I think a trade like this could be very viable in the off season. But with the quarantine and the Wild playing as well as they are. I don't think they will trade any core players right now. Same for Calgary. Dumba is a right shot d.

Yeh. I agree. If you have a good C with upside and a contract like Dvorak's. It makes him pretty untouchable in any trade. Good C's are very HARD to find.

So maybe Dumba for Dvorak in some kind of trade after the season. As I don't think the Wild or Coyotes want to trade either player right now.

offseason Barkov Trade
I really like your way of thinking, but I think its hard to give up 5 assets for 1. Plus, I think Florida would want Fiala in any trade. Plus, resigning Barkov would be a necessity, and I think that would be hard to guarantee. And most teams are going to hang on to a player of Barkov's stature. Unless, they can't resign him and trade him as a rental, which lessens his value considerably.

We will trade you Dumba, but not for a 35 year old UFA to be. Plus, why on God's green earth would the Wild retain salary in this trade.

Kirill Kaprizov and Jordan Greenway were both drafted in 2015. I would think both would have consideration to be included in the 1st round of that draft.

Wild ideas
The biggest query is how the Wild management team looks at Johansen. If they think he's a worthy player, I think they would be interested. But, there are so many things that can get set into motion by taking on that much cap and term. So, I think they would really have to be in love with him to try and trade for him. Another hidden thing to consider, is the way Johansen's contract is structured, the buyout possibilities down the road aren't the worst.

Wild ideas
I do tend to agree. I think the Wild won't do anything to take on cap. But, Johansen is an interesting player. Good at faceoffs and a change of scenery might help him, and we do need some help at C. But, its to much of a gamble for many reasons. I think the Wild is best served by sitting on their hands and letting Rossi, Boldy, Beckman, etc. develop. And see what we have then. He does drive play pretty well and might look good on the PP or with wingers like Kaprizov and Fiala.

At least these trades are in the ballpark. Most people seem to think Buffalo is going to give Eichel away for spare parts. These proposals would be a starting point.

Price check on Johansen
Getting back to Johansen, if the Wild wanted to gamble on acquiring him with his full term. Look at the buyout possibilities. With his contract being the way it is, a buyout after 1,2,or even 3 years isnt just to bad. A straight contract with no bonuses makes it this way. So if you can get some money back in a trade for him, great. But, it almost is a worthy gamble taking on the full contract, if you can get a trade that you like. But, I really don't think the Wild want to take on any Cap right now. Especially a 4 year 8M a season hit. That is, unless they think acquiring Johansen is worth it. My opinion is that it's a 50/50 gamble on being worth it. His buyout would be for instance. If you acquired him now and bought him out after the 2023 season. You would have a Cap hit of 2.67M for 4 seasons 24,25,26,and 27, while saving 5.33M for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. If you did it after 2024 you would only have a 2 year Cap hit of 2.67M.

Lets look at next year
AS far as the expansion draft goes. You keep Dumba, go 4-4-1 and you put Foligno, Greenway, Hartman, Soucy, and Talbot as viable candidates for the Kraken to take. If you trade Dumba, you can go 7-3-1 and only expose Soucy and Talbot. So, they will either protect Dumba, or trade him for whatever they get. There is no way they leave Dumba unprotected. By trading him, you really only expose Soucy and Talbot to the Kraken.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jeuck75</b></div><div>Nugent Hopkins is NOT bad!!! He's very underrated!!</div></div>
Nugent-Hopkins is a very good player. But he's more of a RW-LW. The Wild are LOOKING for a C that can drive play in the offensive zone and be better than 50% on faceoffs. If they make a trade or a FA signing, that's the kind of C they would be after. A TRUE C, and Nugent-Hopkins doesn't fit that bill.

About what it would take to get Dubois. But I don't know if the Wild would be willing to give up that much. The Wild are maybe better off keeping Dumba, Rossi, Boldy, Beckman and Addison and see what they have in a few years.
