<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Yeah two 1sts one to Calgary and one to Arizona. Like I said if it was anyone but edmonton this would probably be enough for Calgary but Arizona will decline regardless for multiple reasons.
1. They're improved and could make the playoffs this year especially if they add a good player.
2. Arizona is looking at trading for Hanifin themselves.
3. A 1st wouldn't be enough to both get Vegmalka AND take on Campbell's horrible contract with the rest of this season and 3 more full seasons left on it. Yet this contract not only wants that but asks them to give up Stetcher and a 2nd too. No way Arizona is going to take a beating on a trade that fixes edmonton's problems on defense and in goal while making their defense and goaltending worse.
4. Even if it was just Veg for Soup and a 1st the Coyotes won't downgrade in goal like that... Not when it finally looks like they're coming out of the rebuild and will be in the playoffs soon. Maybe even this season.
What it boils down to is edmonton would be getting a really good deal on fixing their two biggest problems defense and goaltending while Arizona would be getting screwed royally. Seriously why would send Arizona send Stecher and a 2nd to Calgary (so edmonton can pay less for Hanifin I'd guess), get robbed on a goalie swap on top of that and make their own team worse in the process too?</div></div>
Hanafin ends up in AZ here... They aren't helping EDM with their defense.... Arizona gets a downgrade on their back up goalie in Veggie for a cap dump, 26 yo D man in Hanafin who still fits their timeline, and an upgrade on a 2nd to a 1st round pick. Ingram has out performed Veggie so far this season, having both is a luxury when their defense is under performing. They need help on D. which is why Hanafin makes sense, provided he is willing to stick around next season.

But Arizona declines regardless. A 1st isn't enough for them to downgrade from Veggy to Soupy. They're much improved this year and said to be looking at trading for Hanifin themselves to speed up the last part of the rebuild.</div></div>
Not sure if you're reading this correctly, Hanafin goes to AZ and EDM are giving up 2 1sts in this deal.

Goalie and LD to Buffalo
After seeing Reinhart only signed for one year until he's a UFA. I probably wouldn't do it anyway. Clearly he is going to walk along with Hall or just dealt at the deadline when Buffalo is out of the playoffs again, meanwhile enjoy Hutton as your starter for another year.

Don't think any team in the league would take Goligoski for picks, let alone Vancouver who still need to sign Boeser.

Demers is playing #2 next to OEL on the current roster for under $4m, Florida is still retaining 12.50% of his salary. how is he a cap dump? Not to mention Perlini has a much higher ceiling than Ryan Strome at this point. No way AZ does this.

Worse than bad for the coyotes. Zero chance Chayka agrees to this. I think you're confusing him with Bowman.

ALL IN! SAVE THE FRANCHISE! WIN A CUP!
Raanta would be in the vezina conversation if he can reproduce his performance from last season without getting injured this coming season, no reason to trade for Bob. Not to mention coyotes can't afford Karlsson for the near future. I would rather keep Strome, Chychrun, and Perlini for budget reasons.

Move out some contracts and cut cap
Goligoski was the best D man on the team down the stretch according to RT. This isn't close to worth it just to dump two contracts.

Karlsson
How are they going to qualify anyone next season when they need to resign Karlsson for 11m. Dvorack, Chychrun, and Perlini all need a new contract with 4 million available. Not only that but the coyotes obviously have a much lower internal cap.

No way I would make that trade if Zadina was there, but otherwise I would consider it.
POJ is a former first rounder who has shown nothing but improvement since last year. Basically the equivalent of mid 1st rounder + a 3rd. Value seems consistent with some of the other discussions I've been seeing.

Coyotes were 2nd in defensive scoring 5 on 5 last season. No reason to bring in yet another offensive Dman especially while burying Hjalmarsson?

OEL + EK
AZ can't afford to pay two dmen a total of 18m+ a season long term. Not to mention OEL and EK haven't played historically well together in their history with team Sweden.
Also just a minor note, Wood will likely not be a full time NHL player in the near future. RT said he didn't see any AHL defensemen close to making the jump.

Decent Kessel Trades
Kessel has no reason to wave for Florida.
Not to mention you're not getting Strome let alone the added picks for 1 year of an overpaid Hagelin and Dumoulin, who be the 5th best LHD on the Coyotes roster.

Assuming you're talking about Kessel... Domi is better than Strome and there is rumor the penguins have interest in him. Not to mention Kessel has an 8 team trade list so it will limit his return value if the Penguins are looking to move him.

You should really watch some coyote games before commenting like you know their players. Domi isn't a center and Strome tore it up in his first season in the AHL last season and his end of season NHL call up.

I would be shocked if the Habs got better than a 23 year old still on his ELC already playing 2/3C at an NHL level in exchange for one year of Pacioretty. Not to mention, Capoibianco is likely going to be ready for full time NHL duties next year as a 20 year old D man, he's been playing extremely well in the AHL this season.
