Next year trying to fix it
in what way does this help the team? its basically the same money for a worse player and we take on a LTIR contract and give up a 2nd round pick. please explain this

Get him out
Yeah I think Drouin is way under value in this trade. He is producing and has great chemistry with domi. But I agree if he’d stop stickhandling at the offensive blue line I think he’d be way better. It’s very rare that he can pull it off.

I’d see what you can get for him at the deadline. He’d be a good depth center for a team that was making a run.

the main problems is obv cap space but getting rid of a 50 point d man and replacing him with prospect isnt the answer lol. the d core is already shakey at best. why not just throw in a few rookies for the sole reason that theyre a 900k cap hit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>Easily. Put Horton on IR, give Mitch 2mil less, raise cap space to actually what it would be to 83mil and you will get almost 11mil to sign 9 players. Sign Kappy to 3x3 deal, give Johnsson 1.5x2, use Rosen with new contract 750kx2 and you would end up with 5.75mil of cap space for 6 players. which is doable since you got prospects under 1mil who WILL play next year in Moore and Grundstrom. Sign Jensen on right side and Oz as well to 1.1milx1yr contracts and it is pretty easily doable.</div></div>
sooooo no gardiner? shouldnt be a problem right?

His contract isn’t even that bad anymore with the way the cap has been going up. He has a lot of grit in his own end and he can still contribute offensively. If a guy like zaitsev is worth 4.5 then I’m alright with it. I’m a habs fan though so..

Lol Webber and domi deserve at least a first and a prospect. Don’t even get me started on price.

Deadline deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>Even Marc Bergevin isnt dumb enough to make that trade. Petry is a top 4, 20 min a night, 40+ point defenceman, and your packaging him with a second pick to get a late pick dman (who is good, but still only a B level prospect), a 37 year old LW MTL has no room for, an injured cap dump and a pick that's probably only moving MTL from 41-28 in the draft.
That's an easy, easy no from MTL. Maybe if it was Sandin and the first alone, you could talk, but that's still without retaining any money.</div></div>
It’s a good trade for both teams. Moving down a few spots in the draft is good. Also I didn’t write this but you also have to think about who you can protect during the expansion. With this trade sandin would be protected for free plus 3 more d. Petry is good but he doesn’t have a great plus minus and his stats are inflated because Webber was out. This is a trade to put both teams in a good position for the future. Webber sandin brooks and mete would be a solid d core.

I’d try and take advantage of some one with cap problems like Toronto. Work out some deal where you take Nathan Horton or marleaus contract and get sandin and a pick for a 1st</div></div>

Yeah I’m a habs fan and this makes no sense. Danault is a good 3rd liner. You’d be lucky to get a 2nd and a 3nd. This would be the unreal hall for Larson scenario that people scratch there heads at for years. Wouldn’t hate it but it’s not happening.
