if i was going to pay a player 9.5 million over the next 6 years, id rather the player not be in his 30's.

What Would An Ehlers To Calgary Trade Look Like
Winnipeg passes. Ehlers is 6 years younger, just entering his prime and under contract for another 6 years. Brodie is a UFA next year and could be lost to free aency.

I agree with you thats why I titled it "extreme"

I'm not saying Almeida is as good as Kaprizov but devaluing someone with the argument that they were drafted in the 5th round isnt meaningful.</div></div>
I don't watch enough Penguins games to really make that call so I was just going by the corsi/rel which Schultz's is the worst on the team among defensemen at -7.0 and Johnson is -5.6

Probably a decently high 1st round pick and an A rated prospect. Problem is the Jets don't have a 1st round pick...yet.

Is this a fair price for Trouba
if you were to offersheet him that amount, the Jets would get 2-1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd. a number 6 overall in 2019 is worth more than 2-1sts in 2020 and 2021 becase in all likelihood they could be later picks. Would still want the 2nd and 3rd though.

Captain Serious to the rescue
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boush</b></div><div>So. Here's the thing. WPG loses that CHI trade. You're currently getting similar production on better contracts. Toews has one of the worst contracts in the league considering he just had his best ever year and it wasn't as good as Scheifele's. Kane is an upgrade on Wheeler, but the latter is coming off back to back 91 point seasons, which Kane himself has only ever topped twice (including last year, and both were 100+ point seasons), so I'm still not sure that much more money for less term is worth it for that swap either. Big Buff for two years on a bad contract is much better than Seabrook on another one for five more.
The WPG trio has a combined line 2018-2019 line of 62-44-206 with Buff missing half the season (a combined point per game pace). The CHI trio is 84-135-219 with a combined 5 games missed (a combined 0.91 points per game) and for that you're paying $3,900,000 a year more for the next two years and $21,300,000 overall.
Toews and Kane have the name recognition and love, and that's the only reason that Chicago could get away with not sending over a pick or a prospect to thank WPG for saving the team millions a year while getting a little younger (since Scheifele is only 26 and Buff comes off the books 3 years sooner than Seabrook) and without having to sacrifice anything significant in production.</div></div>
Yeah I'm aware that it doesn't make financial sense for Winnipeg. There is a lot of talk on here about Winnipeg's leadership issues, so I figured I'd base an AGM on what would the Jets look like if you switched out Winnipeg's big 3 with Chicago's big 3. Just for fun, nothing serious. Most things you see on here are ridiculous so I thought I'd be try my hand at it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>I don’t think you would get both 11OA and Farabee from Philly. Chances are within 6 months they’d be the two most valuable prospects in Phillys system (not to mention Rubstov is a pretty solid prospect himself). I could see Philly giving up 11OA or Farabee in a Trouba trade, but not both</div></div>
Initial proposal, if Flyers say no then maybe switch out Farabee with a 2nd round pick we'll see. If Hayes signs before the draft, the favor of giving Philly first crack at him may come into play and they might say yes.

Making Trouba Work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MGabes19</b></div><div>Sam has had some bad luck and has shown promise. Certainly not anywhere near Trouba's level, but the 11th overall pick is a huge asset, especially with this draft. Maybe adding another pick (2nd or 3rd rounder) would be more realistic.</div></div>
Yeah that seems about fair, if Trouba were offersheeted Winnipeg would get a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick as compensation, so something along those lines would be reasonable.

Making Trouba Work
The Jets would have no interest in a career minor league left handed defenseman so the offer would have to be better than that.

Ok Leafs fans this is what the Canes will probably want for Pesce
Kapenen is probably the most vulnerable player in the league to receive an offer sheet. Offering him $4,227,437 or less is only going to cost you a 2nd round pick. Every GM in the league has probably figured this out so using him as bait to take Zaitsev's contract is not going to work
