under the cap
Demelo has more value than brodie just because his cap is 3m compared to 5m both are equal in my mind. Demelo has more value as say at deadline more teams could fit demelo making him more desirable. Jets decline don't need lhds even if they play right. Brodie also declines 10 team no trade list, Winnipeg got to be one of them so no you are not under the cap lol.

There's no incentive for Winnipeg to give DeMelo away for nothing.

this trade might work for both
So Colorado trades the guy they just signed to what people are mocking as potentially the worst deal of free agency and their extremely less proven #1 goalie for one of the few proven stud goalies in the game and a good 2nd line winger. Then you think Winnipeg adds picks?
Drop the picks on Winni's side. Add a first++ on Colorado's side

Trading Mercer for Hellebuyck is a genuinely terrible idea.
Also, there are probably gonna be better offers for Konecny out there than what you've suggested.

Take out the jets first. I still do not think the jets do it. we are (or are close to being) contenders and trading away talent is not the way to go about this. Wait for players to develop and do not spend 1sts on rentals for at least this year

Singular stats aren't as meaningful in hockey as they are in sports like baseball, it's really easy to cherry pick certain metrics that favor some players over others. Johnson looked worse than an AHL level defenseman this year, he was atrocious.

While the retained salary is not a problem this year. Next year when Mantha, Athanasiou, Bertuzzi, Svechnikov, De La Rose, Bowey, #1 d-man (Green's spot), #3 d-man (Daley's spot), #5 d-man (Erricsson's spot) and #1 goalie (Howard's spot) all come due for new contracts those retained salaries become a huge problem. The trades are just not practical.

Making Trouba Work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>thomasjohn</b></div><div>The Jets would have no interest in a career minor league left handed defenseman so the offer would have to be better than that.</div></div>
Sam has had some bad luck and has shown promise. Certainly not anywhere near Trouba's level, but the 11th overall pick is a huge asset, especially with this draft. Maybe adding another pick (2nd or 3rd rounder) would be more realistic.

In my opinion Trouba is a tad more ready to take the leading D role of a team than Pulock, and if NYI goes all in like in this post they could benefit from this deal, while WPG saves money and gets also a very good and cheaper D for their second line. This could benefit both of the teams.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hedman77</b></div><div>imo Connor-Scheifele-Laine.
Laine had a bad year, yes, but he's still a 40-goal scorer (at least capable of it). He did it in 2017-18 and can do it again.
Playing with Connor and Scheifele should help him rebound.</div></div>
You can't split Scheifele and Wheeler IMO. They complete eachother so well

As a Devils fan, that trade is extremely 1-sided – Devils accept.
You would get much better offers than that from other teams, and probably the Devils too.

Trouba to TB
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>thomasjohn</b></div><div>I have 2 tabs of that site open at all times, Trouba didnt play on the Jets #1 PP unit until Buf got hurt His points/60 min on the power play this year was 6.4 which is 8th best in the league, better than Burns 6.2 (9th). If he played the #1 PP for a full season he'd hit 70 points easy. BTW Buf was 7.5 (4th) Karlsson 7.3 (5th). Wpg and SJ were the only teams to have 2 D men top 10 in the league.</div></div>
Erik Karlsson didn't play on SJS top PP unit ... Guess he's no good by that logic.
Basically, what you're saying is Trouba had a 50 point season, despite the fact that Byfuglien was the primary PP1 player. The kid is definitely worth $7.5 Mil. I can't even believe I have to convince anyone of this.

Realistic Jets roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>thomasjohn</b></div><div>As a Jets fan, if Trouba were to be dealt to Philly I'd like to see the 11th overall and Gudas coming back, But this works as well. Frost should be closer to NHL ready and the Jets get a second round pick as well.</div></div>
Even though Frost was drafted later than the 11th pick in his draft, he may actually have more value than this years 11th pick based on his performance since being drafted. Actually Im pretty sure he does. Unless WPG absolutely doesn't want a forward, taking this deal above would be the best value for the dollar IMO. The 2nd rounder also helps.
11th picks:
Oli Wahlstrom
Gab Vilardi
Logan Brown
Lawson Crouse
Frost arguably looking better than anyone of those guys and this year at 11th I feel that team
