Those Sens fans think they're entitled to at least as much in trade as what the Sens (over)paid last summer. Virtually all trades are to the Wings because they have cap. Yzerman isn't in the business of helping the Sens with their cap or replenishing their draft picks.

Winnipeg Rebuild - Attempt Two
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>Ehlers is level wise around the same class as Guentzel, DeBrincat and Nylander, and the only issue is that he's a bit more injury prone. He's worth much, much more than a statistical nightmare like Granlund, and a 2nd round pick.
Hellebuyck is in Vezina contention. Calling him worth a third is absolutely ludicrous. Ville Husso, as a pending UFA, got a 3rd for his signing rights, with 0 years left.</div></div>
By created xgoals 5v5 / All Situations:
Ehlers: 9.3 / 13
Nylander: 22.4 / 33
Guentzel: 18.8 / 38
Cat: 16.1 / 28
Taking into account that Ehlers played less games makes his numbers go up but he is in a lower tier. Also, teams trading for him can't overlook his injury history. It's a chronic problem.
Just because someone paid more for another guy doesn't mean he is worth that. Hextall paid a mid 2nd for Granlund.

Without Ehlers that trade is never happening tho. WPG is unlikely to receive half of that package for a rental goalie.

I don't hate it. Myers only has a year left on his contract. He might be Plan G. Stevie does like BIG Defensemen. Probably better than overpaying Severson or Dumba in UFA and giving them too much AAV and term. We have plenty of cap space and can take his full 6 mil.

Moving 3 of 4
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arafay</b></div><div>Yzerman has expressed intentions on upgrading the goaltending. </div></div>
When did he say this? Source?
Yzerman said he wants to be tougher to play against and they need to score more and he's looking for a decent back up or a goalie that can act as a 1A and 1B with Husso. Hellebuyck will be 30 at the start of the season and Detroit isn't even a playoff team yet. After losing 2 players out of their top 6 they need that pick more than they need Hellebuyck. Especially when they have Cossa.

There's zero chance of Detroit trading the 9th overall for Hellebuyck, maybe if the Jets are sending their 1st rounder with Bucky but even then I doubt it.
Detroit is so far away from competing Idk why they'd even want Hellebuyck, they need a 1C more then anything else and they're only getting that through the draft.

Kudos for the effort for making relatively interesting post in terms of trading, but imo some valuations and more the targets for these exchanges are tad off.
Detroit is not looking to be a playoff team on a short timeframe. The fact they traded Hronek and Bertuzzi for first rounders while still competing for a playoff spot speaks volumes about Yzerman thinking they're not ready yet. I don't think the switch from Husso to Hellebuyck is changing that direction...if there is a team to trade a first rounder for Hellebuyck, it would be from one that's confident in their ability to make the playoffs next year, as he likely is a rental goalie.
BOS is cap strapped big time, so they're not exactly in position to take in Dubois now, who is likely to cost fairly close to as much as the entire package going Jets' way here. BOS needs to shed cap, not increase it.
Stanley is a sheltered 24-year old D-man that's not likely to be a fit in the lineup in any team save for the bottom-5 teams in the league. Buffalo does not have a need for LHD. You could try someone taking him as a depth D, but the more correct valuation for him rn is something closer to what Bear got (5th+fringe player).
ARI is able to make it to cap minimum without taking additional contracts...they're financially so f*cked their upper limit rn is probably around $60-65M dollars lol. I think Schmidt would be a better fit in Chicago for instance.
Lastly, I just don't see a scenario where WSH ends up paying to rid themselves of Mantha. They've invested way too much for him, so either they get positive value out of him or they just suck it up and keep him.
I like the Wild trade though. Wheeler going home sounds solid to me, and they really need to change something up - that first round is such a curse for them right now.

Wings pass and honestly it's not close. Goalies don't get the same value back as players and Detroit isn't giving up a top 10 pick for a player of this age when they have husso and cossa on the way

Bringing Helly home doesn't make any sense, he'll be 31 years old when his new contract kicks in next summer, he wants to win now and that's not happening in Detroit. Plus we're not moving our 9 OA pick in a very deep draft for a goalie.

Yzerman isn't trading Husso and 9OA for a goalie. 🤭
These Jets/Red Wings trades keep getting more hideous each day. 😁

Imagine thinking Habs would pay two 1sts (including a Top-7 one) + one of their good young RD (a position of needs for the Habs) for a player they could sign a year later, as a UFA.
...now let that settle in, and then think about the fact that DET and NYR deal are even more ridiculous.

Yeah but we lost Bertuzzi and Vrana at the start of the season they were in our top 6. That puts Fabbri in to the top 6 but with the knees of an 80yr old he was only able to play 28 games. Now Rasmussen did step up and played well until he got injured. Edvinsson who would have made the team out of camp is now out for 5 months with a shoulder injury. So Mazur could actually make the team out of camp. With injuries and horrible lottery luck I'm not sure Detroit is even a playoff team for the next couple of seasons. And that is pretty depressing.

I'm sorry but Detroit isn't giving up that much for a 30yr old goalie when they aren't even a playoff team yet. I do like Hellebuyck but it's more than Detroit can afford to give up.

Detroit is closer than some on here give them credit for, but that is BECAUSE of Yzerman's patience and we're not selling the future. Detroit is keeping all our A level picks and prospects. If a trade can be made that makes us better that doesn't cost us one of those, we do it, otherwise, we stay the course.

As a Wings fan, I'd personally pass. Hellebuyck is obviously better now, and Cossa may never reach his level. But Helle is already over 30, and his age just doesn't line up with the Wings rebuild at all. He'd be really old by time they're a cup contender

Why are so many Jets fans convinced Buffalo would want Scheifele? Center is arguably their strongest position (minus winning face-offs).

It could be an opportunity for Johansson. But it sucks for Edvinsson because now he can't train and put any muscle on this summer. It's a setback in his development.
