Probably not. Cozens is too important to the sabres and he's on what will be/is a steal of a contract. Kirill is a great player, but not at the cost of cozens.

100%. He is also super versatile. Can play both center and wing, Top 6 or as a grinder on the 3rd-4th line. Rasmussen, Kasper, Mazur...We need more guys that plays with an edge. Not trade them away.

Forsure.
Also Rasmussen looked phenomenal at wing in his like 10 game stint there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tonyhzs</b></div><div>Have you seen that draft? Believe it or not, Rasmussen would still go in the 10-15 range in a redraft, especially if you only redraft the first rounders (cuz let's face it, Oettinger and Jason Robertson had no business sniffing a 1st round selection at tbe time). It was a weak draft class that was full of complimentary players and not difference makers outside of the top 10ish in a redraft. That was a tough draft for all the teams to gauge talent for some reason.</div></div>
I would somewhat agree. I would say about 11 of those first round picks really started to break out this year. In a redraft of the first round I would take him between 13-18. But yes it was definitely not a great draft class for the first round but alot of them are coming around now.

Yeah i'm sure that Yzerman cares that Copp and Scheifele are the best of friends. Bottom line you're not getting Rasmussen and the 9th overall pick for Scheifele the dude is 30 and his age doesn't fit our rebuild timeline.

This is also what you ask a team that is ready to break into the playoffs. They're not. We still have major holes and a 30 year old center would fill up only a small hole.

Rasmussen is actually coming along nicely, a bit late and likely not going to be a big producer of points, but he plays a really solid game and is getting better. We don't really want to move him. That first is a huge no go.

Another OTT-DET Cat trade attempt
IMO. it isn't about "fair trade value", it's about whether a team (especially a non playoff team) wants to spend good assets on a in effect a one year rental. And even if a long term deal is imminent, does that team want to give good assets to acquire a player who wants to UFA money? In the Wings case, (and this my opinion) they don't do the trade. They spend that UFA cap elsewhere this year or next years and keep their young assets.

Seider did unbelievably well with Walman. Turns out, seider is a puck carrier but he can't do it when his partner can't keep up to give him an outlet. Yzerman is drafting guys who can skate for a reason.</div></div>
Completely agree and that is why I think Chiarot was put in such bad light. He was a terrible match for Seider. Seider needs to play at pace not that slow and rugged old style that Chiarot excels at. I feel like Chiarot is due for a bounce-back year, but the roster just doesn't make sense with him and Maata.

A different trade partner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tonyhzs</b></div><div>Holtz hasn't looked as promising as I thought he'd be.
At tbe draft, I was torn between Raymond and Holtz for Detroit. Holtz was a shooter who played center at tbe time. What the heck is happening with him? Doesn't have to be lights out, but he is looking like a bad choice, maybe?</div></div>
Short version is …he will be fine
Long version is…was hard to develop him on the fly this year. We never expected to win as much as we did, so kept him with NHL squad thinking, “we’ll fall back to earth soon and go back to testing out the kids”. But we never did. (Reilly Walsh kind of stood in same bucket). Tatar, Haula, and everyone else were playing well for most of the year, so just got harder to get him into lineup. He does have to work on some things…defensively so he can stay in lineup…and finding ways to adapt his feet-standing-still-shot (his bread and butter) to a fast offense build on possession and transition. Goal scorers usually grow production in bunches…so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him jump his output in big step changes. He has two more years of his ELC left and a coach who runs our offense (and could be head coach next year) who loves him. So NJD has little reason to move him. I’d give him a ‘strong buy’ rating over long-term.

Same player who was point per game in the AHL at 19. He just couldn't crack the lineup and got mismanaged by Ruff. He never got a shot in the top six.

As much as I really like Moore, I really think Pelikka is the choice if he is there. He skates (which Frankly is what Yzerman drafts for). Moore is playing with Boys, Pelikka is playing serious minutes with men. Its also why I like Pelikka over Reinbacher, who is playing in Switzerland which is a step below the AHL.</div></div>
Fringe NHLers and buncha 18-23 year olds. Only thing that AHL has is it's faster because of the smaller rink.

Plans do change Detroit was still in the wild card hunt until after the TDL after losing 2 forwards out of their top 6.</div></div>
Right but I assume his goal is to aim higher than just perpetually be a wild card team. Just figure it would be more sustainable to address those needs through the draft. Finding a way to get Reinbaher or ASP probably adds more value long term than paying Mayfield during his 30s for example.
Debrincat style trade should probably come after they've built a playoff team internally, that would put them over the top and make them a contender.

You'd imagine wrong, Mayfield will get around 4 years $16 million at the very most. Depending on the situation. Mayfield would be more of a bottom pairing RD in Detroit than a 2nd pairing RD.

Need to stop with the DeBrincat to Seattle crap, Cat has already said numerous times that it's his dream and desire to play for his childhood team the Detroit Red Wings. Now he's put himself into that position.
And both Bunting and Severson are getting far more AAV. Than your pathetic offers.
