They would at least have to think about this offer, wouldn’t they?

No. Imo Cozens has just scratched the surface of what he’s capable of. Both offensively and defensively. As good as Kaprisov is I’m not giving up Cozens for a winger

Not really. Zucc is just another winger and while he’s fine and probably a decent value at 4.5, cap isn’t an issue with Buffalo in 23/24 so retention does nothing. Addison is again fine, and probably a target but the pieces given up he’s maybe valued at a 2nd give or take. A lot to give up for Karill and mediocre pieces even if Mitts is viewed in the same light as say Addison

I think the trade is pretty fair. Minnesota might have to add a bit because the cap implications of having another year of cheap Cozens. Kaprizov is absolutely the best player in the deal, but he is UFA in a couple years, and for that, I would decline. It is rare that a wing is more valuable than a center, but this is one of those instances. If there was some sort of assurance that Kaprizov would stay in Buffalo, I'd make the deal.

How about Brodin or Middleton? Pens should be looking for a LHD.

Probably not. Cozens is too important to the sabres and he's on what will be/is a steal of a contract. Kirill is a great player, but not at the cost of cozens.

If MInnesota is blowing it up…what would it take to obtain Hartman (or Boldy grimace)?

After playing only 33 games this year, I thought maybe I could get him at a discount…

Not giving up TWO players who had breakout years and 3 picks among the top 45 in this draft!

Yes for about a nano second.
Mats is curretnly only a shade better than Casey, while adding Kirill's 40 goals would be great he is 26 @ $9,000,000 and Mats is 35 @$6,000,000, while Dylan is 21 @$7,100,000 and Casey is 24 @$2,500,000.
Mats will be long gone while Casey is still putting up points.
Buffalo could use that extra cap space on their middle six forwards or second pairing defensemen.

I mean I agree, but cozens wasn't as great defensively as I hoped. Part of the reason that we routinely got caved in- in our own end, was that cozens was our best defensive center. The other ones were worse, but cozens wasn't great either. Of course I'm not suggesting we move him, just pointing out that he still has room to grow.
