Interesting pieces if you want Buch this summer
I wouldn’t mind returns from Detroit or Philly.
DET: 2024 1st + Wallinder
PHI: 2024 1st (FLA) + Bonk

Hanifin won’t sign in St. Louis. I don’t think the Hronek deal helps us in the long term when we could be drafting a RD with that pick. Also, Faulk isn’t waiving

Definitely not sure that buch would go there but that seems like good value for a guy on the last year of his contract. A young #2/3 defenseman plus a first is pretty good. I do think they would want the 24 first though</div></div>
Perhaps it’s a draft day trade?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>I believe both squads would pass. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t imagine that St Louis would want a 26 year old Lindgren, instead would want a younger player, or prospect (preferably defence).
New York gets a good top 6 forward, sure, however, they are filling a hole to gain another one here. Lindgren is a huge part of their defence. Loosing him would make that defence core horrible!</div></div>
That all makes sense. Wonder who’d be a good partner for St. Louis in a Buchnevich trade

His injuries make me weary. I think Jiricek is available at 16 no doubt. Maybe he is the right pick to make. I think he doesn’t have top pairing potential but at least middle pairing. He is more of a high floor than high ceiling pick.

New Jersey is the only team I can see doing that. We are kind of in no mans land right now. If all defense are taken I don’t think we take Jiricek at 16. Id rather take a forward and grab 2 defenseman in the 2nd round

Also, I think we really need to move up in the draft. Use that TOR 2nd with our first and move up 4 spots. I think we need top 11 to get one of the defenseman with true Top 4 potential

I would say we do the following.
2024 Offseason
Draft: RD Carter Yakemchuck
Extend: Perunovich (2 years)
Sign: Stephenson (4 years)
Trade: Buchnevich (1st + prospect)
Neighbours - Thomas - Kyrou
Saad - Stephenson - Snuggerud
Bolduc - Schenn - Hayes
Toropchenko - Sunny - Walker
Leddy - Parayko
Krug - Kessel
Perunovich - Faulk
Binnington
Hofer
2025 Offseason
Draft: LD Matthew Schaefer and Center (idk who)
Extend: Neighbours (2 years), Toropchenko (2 years), Hofer (2 years)
Sign: Gavrikov (3 years - time for when Schaefer is ready)
Acquire: Brady Tkachuk for Bolduc + 2026 1st + 2027 2nd + another prospect
Move: Hayes and Krug
Tkachuk - Thomas - Snuggerud
Neighbours - Stephenson - Kyrou
Schenn - Dvorsky - Saad
Toropchenko - Dean - Sunny
Gavrikov - Parayko
Leddy - Faulk
Perunovich - Kessel
Binnington
Hofer

For example if I could turn 9th overall+like a 2nd+3rd into buchnevich, Marcus Pettersson, and Ullmark. That would be ideal. Maybe some guys with more term but who knows. Lots of options</div></div>
Plenty of options. I wonder what Ullmark is worth from a trade perspective

We gotta get a rid of either Krug, Leddy, or Perunovich then if we get a different LD

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BDHockey</b></div><div>I wouldn't purely because of injury history, but if the scouting/drafting team felt confident that they could bring Jiricek up to Top 4 caliber then I trust them.
Yakemchuk just feels like a lesser version of Roman Josi and to me looks like a great top pairing D.
My ultimate dream would be to grab Dickinson this year and Hensler next year and then start truly pushing for the wild card after that.</div></div>
If the reverse, I wouldn’t mind Yakemchuk this year and Schaefer next year. Then we snag a RW in 2026

Playoffs part 1
Unfortunately, I think we are stuck with that D-Core for one more season with all the NTC offered. I think we need to move on from at least Hayes or Saad maybe both. I want to sign a 2C whether that’s Stephenson or Monahan. I wouldn’t mind trading Buchnevich too, whether that’s during the summer or maybe give it a run and move him at the deadline if we are out again. I think we will see a shakeup take place starting 2025-26 season when we have more flexibility with the lineup.

Next Year after we miss Yoffs
I think we need to trade Hayes and then one of Saad or Buchnevich. I’d rather get a better return so maybe we deal Buchnevich and get a promising Top 4D back. Sign a 2C and move Schenn to the 3C role. I’m fine with Perron and think he’s a good veteran presence. Then perhaps the year after we have Dvorsky full-time as the 3C and develop him with Schenn and Bolduc.

Wonder if we move people in the offseason. I mean we are 3-6-1 in our last 10. I don’t think we are making the playoffs. But maybe Buchnevich to Buffalo for a package including Samuelsson and try to move Krug or Leddy in the summer?
