Pens

I don’t necessarily think they do. adds a physical gritty player to both top lines and creates a balanced 3rd line. also with o’connor having a similar playing style to aston reese it creates a similar 4th line to what they had last year.

even with turcotte, byfield, and kopitar still on the books for another 4 years? I realize I probably low balled him a bit being a recent top pick but they could use a young d like petterson.

Malkin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>How about we just fire Sullivan instead?</div></div>
Sullivan has been one of the best coaches in the league. Malkin has really been the only significant and consistent letdown in the forward group this year. I really don’t believe Sullivan is the problem but who knows at this point.

I don’t think he will either but he will be the star center in columbus which is something he’s obviously never had before. maybe that will help his confidence and commitment

I have no idea what’s going to come of it. All I know is what he’s putting out there for our team is not worth the 20 minutes of ice time we’re giving him and his 9.5 million dollar price tag.

What a gutty win
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>Zucker played well with Malkin last year.</div></div>
they combined for 3 points in the 4 play in games. Zucker had 12 points in 15 games when he was on Sid’s line before the regular season stopped. Just think it’s time for a change. They have to rejuvenate malkins game somehow especially with how much each game matters now.

I don’t know how many games it’s gonna take for Sully to realize malkin and zucker shouldn’t be on the same line. keep the guentzel-malkin-rust combo that had so much success last year

Ideal lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>I'm watching that scrimmage. Jankowski looks bad. I just can't justify him at this point as even having a starting role. I don't know. 1st game or two will be telling. They can't clutch on. They have to admit a mistake and move on. Quickly.
Idealy, we might be best off with a bottom 6 line.
McCann Blueger Poulin
OConnor Lafferty Tanev
I have been impressed with Matheson in the game. He's playing well. But it's just a small window.</div></div>
I am also watching. Lafferty and O’Connor have both looked good. They definitely deserve an extended look. I agree about Jankowski. Hasn’t impressed me at all and just looks too slow to keep up.

I don’t dislike dislike Granlund at all but he’s not really moving the needle that much.
He only had 24 points 5v5 playing 2nd line minutes with nashville, with an inflated shooting percentage.....and doesn’t really play a good defensive game.</div></div>
You don’t think reuniting him with Zucker and putting them on Sid’s line will be enough for him to get back to his Minnesota form?

Gudbranson is one of the worst dmen in the league.</div></div>
you obviously have not watched gudbranson play. he actually fit in very well with the pens when he wasn’t forced to play top minutes like he did in vancouver. only reason why i’m trading him here is because there’s no room for him with risto and tanev. saying you’d rather play the holzer, del zotto, and wideman over him is just dumb.

Wild Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>Right now? Letang is deteriorating and Spurgeon is in his prime. Spurgeon is a top 2 defenseman on any team other than San Jose. Letang still is slightly better, but the margin isn't nearly as large as it would have been 3 years ago.
Edit* I noticed you said at their best. I was talking about right now.</div></div>
Your right he’s 3 years older but the guy just had arguably his best season almost averaging a point a game. spurgeon declined from his previous year and he’s a UFA this year. i made the trade because spurgeon fits what the penguins need which is more defensive minded d who can still move the puck. i don’t think there’s an argument that letang is not clearly the better player in the past or at the moment.
