Average without Crosby 12.295, Matthews 10.2 Mil. I think this makes more sense, Crosby is one of a kind

For Marner I think we have to convince him for 6 years. You wouldn't wan't Nylander, Marner, Matthews all coming up at the same time, with Tavares still on the books

Not going to do an average for this one because I think Marner has outperformed all of these players on his ELC. 10.25% is probably fair which would give him a 8.507 Mil AVV

I think it's pretty obvious at this point we can't afford doing 8 year deals for both of them. At least on of them has to do a 5 or 6 year deal

Even on a 5-6 year deal it has already been said Matthews around 11.5 versus the 13.5 on an 8 and Marner likely still gets $9 per year. They are going to have to move Marleau or Zaitsev to get under the cap.

Cuz he knew that to win the SC, him and Malkin couldn't have big cap hits....ie-Wheeler and Scheifele

I agree with the Matthews contract. I think that's a fair number for both sides on a 5 year deal.

I don't agree with the Marner contract.

Kane and Marner are virtually identical (position, points per game, similar play style). Why would Marner take less cap % than Kane and give up 1 UFA year?

I could live with Matthews at that number if it was 7 years long. You could convince me for 6 ( I think 6 years is 9.5 which gets moved to 9.34 to have 34 in the number which is only 500-660k less), but for 5 years that is just too much aav. Remember, Eichel got 8@10
Will have to see though.

On Marner, you could get 7-8 years for just a touch more, as Kucherov is the aav cap for him, so it might as well be done.
