We're good. You guys were the one who wanted to trade him, now you deal with the consequences of doing this. Ryan O'Reilly is a great player, you are going to have to offer Mittelstadt, our 2019 1st, BUF 2019 1st, Nylander, Guhle, and swap Allen for Hutton then you can have him back.

Good for the Blues and ROR has had a great year. I also have in my "points total hockey pool" so I'm pleased also. But the Sabres made the trade partly to get long term cap relief and to spend that 7.5m on other players now and in the future. So the trade should be considered in that context, not just the players traded and the picks. Plus the Berglund retirement has made allowed the Sabres another 3.85m in cap space. We'll see if the Sabres spend the money wisely.

I appreciate the sentiment, but from a BUF perspective, the trade has been an unmitigated disaster.

He’d look really good as 2C right about now.

BTW you know he was a locker room problem in Colorado?
So with Kane, O'Reilly and Lehner gone the locker room atmosphere improves and the Sabres already have more pts than last year. The Blues missed the playoffs last year by one point then added O'Reilly Perron and Bozak and are 2 pts behind the Sabres as I write this. So tell me what would rather have a last place team with O'Reilly or a playoff contending team without him. I know what my answer is. I would have been happy with a bucket of pucks to get him off of the team, much less getting a decent prospect, 1st and 2nd.

Unfortunately Berglund did not work out, but with 50 goals in his 180 games prior to the trade he was to be the #2 center. If he could have repeated his prior performance who knows where the Sabres would be this year. I should add, Berglund was considered a locker room plus in St Louis as well as Buffalo.
