Nylander has the best contract out of the Leafs core players, he should never be traded. Especially if its for a 28 year old player. Spurgeon is really good, don't get me wrong, but Nylander is better and is only going to get better. He's been the best Leaf over the past 10 games.

You are correct when you say that teams don't overhaul like this mid season. And even next year the Leafs don't have to do multiple trades for cap reasons. Just one or maybe two trades gets the cap under control.

Don't really understand the St.louis deal? trading away our 2nd best D-man, and our 7th D-man, both on expiring contracts for a worse defence man to be our 7th D-man, who's also on an expiring contract?
