I don't think Mitch would sign for 3 years personally. But it's possible.

Marner has 0 reasons to accept that offer.

With the amazing season Pesce’s has this year, Carolina might be looking for more. Especially because of Pesce’s amazing contract. He currently leads all Carolina dmen in +/- at +28. And he was on pace for more than 30 points if he played the full season. And he’s a defensive defenceman. And it’s not like he’s getting much PP time with guys like Faulk, Hamilton, and Slaving ahead of him. If I was Carolina I would be very hesitant to give him up. I’d move one of Hamilton, Faulk or TVR, but not Pesce. Not unless a team gave up a lot. Maybe Kapanen and a 1st rounder. Or maybe Kapanen and a good prospect

Not much right in this. Brown's value may be worth 1 3rd round pick max, certainly not 2 of them. Not enough to get Pesce. Too low contract for both RFA's. I guess the projected cap for next year looks pretty accurate.

Tor fans are funny. No proven top 50 player in the league is taking less money and less term versus more money and more term. Doesn't work that way for top talent, those kind of bridge deals only work for players that have potential but haven't show 100% of it yet; Marner clearly has shown what he can do.

If Marner is worth $9.5M for 7 = $66.5M then he'll want more money per year around $11M for 3; not less money for a shorter term and smaller total contract value.
