Description

Although there are other players I would rather trade in order to get under the cap, trading away Rielly and Matthews for comparable & cheaper talents allows the rest of the roster to stay intact. Tavares gets the "C", Babcock has less eyerolling on the bench, and the leafs have 2 less players that need to be protected in the expansion draft.

You trade bad players before good players and fill bad players spots with good players. Not trade great players for younger players. Younger players would likely not be able to play on level these guys are playing immidiately. Trade Zaitsev first, then Brown and possibly Kadri.

Jack Hughes will probably be better then Mathews, Doubt Colorado does this. And Quinn Hughes will be far better then Morgan Reilly as well.

That’s a bold statement and one that I feel is incorrect. If Matthews played a full 82 every year in his first 3 years, he would be a 40+ goal scorer every year.

I said probably will, Meaning in time Hughes could be just as good as Matthews. Matthews already has health issues like Eichel.
