Description
Cap at 82.5M. Stevie looks to take on a bad contract and gain a draft pick. Sends out trade-able asset and retains salary for maximum return. Detroit drafts Podkolzin who stays in the KHL for 2 more years (even though I put him in the minors for pipeline purposes). Kronwall re-signs late after discussion on how his ice time will be managed by being a healthy scratch more than just a few times a year.
Lindstrom is still in Sweden but shown for pipeline purposes

Trades
1.
DET
  1. Callahan, Ryan
  2. 2020 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Callahan has a MNTC not a full one with a 10 team no trade list and Yzerman would know if Detroit is on that list.

Tampa's 2020 pick is expected to be near the end of the 1st round.
TBL
  1. Daley, Trevor ($1,583,333 retained)
Additional Details:
Retaining 50% of Daley's salary makes him attractive to cap stressed Tampa with several UFA d-men openings
2.
DET
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
San Jose re-signs Nyquist and thus the conditional pick reverts to a 2nd rounder.
SJS
  1. 2020 3rd round pick (SJS)

I like it. Not sure if TB would take Daley even at half price.

I think they would:

1. They need at least 3 dmen, he could play 5/6 role for 1 year. The open market would cost them the same amount, but
2. They need money. The trade nets them 4.3m, which is about half of what Point needs, and they fill a hole.

Don’t like the Myers contract, don’t think he’s worth almost 7 per and we’d regret it
And I can’t see any chance of Tampa dealing a 1st to get rid of a guy with one year left , second might be the best outcome and that’s being hopeful as well, put us to try and get him for a second but don’t know if it’s doable

Jets gave up a 4th and 7th to deal mason but also included armia that’s why I was hoping to scratch the young player return and just get a second in 2020

Makes sense. Since coming to Detroit he has been in a rather steep decline in performance and health. It would free up a spot on the back end which would be real nice.

There have been rumors of the Wings pursuing Myers as far back as when he was in Buffalo (in 2014). Detroit still needs a right-handed d-man that can put up offensive numbers. Green was given 6M per season despite being a 3rd pair d-man on Washington and coming off an upper body injury. Myers is 1 year younger than Green was then and does not have the concussion history that Green did (plus Green's recent inability to play a full season) makes him a UFA target in my book. I somewhat agree with you that Detroit is over-paying, but given the state of the club--they have to. Look at Detroit's d-men's contracts: they have 1 d-man signed beyond next year with 2 prospects that look like they can step into the NHL at that point (Hronek and Cholowski) add in re-signing Bowey and they still need d-men. Who are they realistically going to throw the money at?

Tampa has to get rid of contracts just look into their salary cap situation. It's bleak. Like worse than Chicago's when they sold off the team. It's not that they want to get rid of a guy with 1 year left--it's that they have to.
