Marner isn't signing that low, And what makes you think he still wont sign an OS. Players can be offer sheet right up to just before training camp. So still a long ways to go.

Maybe he’s just holding out for a team jacket, that he was promised like Gordie Howe, I just hope he knows what he wants, and is just letting his management team run its course til he takes over himself. Just imagine if he ends up somewhere he doesn’t want to be, have a bad year and wonder why he fought for more dough over a known stability of his hometown

Marner wants to play in Toronto. Marner also wants to get paid Matthews money. Both of those things can't happen if he signs an offer sheet since Toronto will take the 1sts and run if he does. Therefore, Marner won't sign an offer sheet.

My guess is that he sits out the season before he takes less than 8-figures.
