Description
Lessons learned:
People hate signing Taylor Hall
People don’t like Michael Amadio

This is more about setting up a sustainable roster that could add a free agent after extending Hughes and EP than making a splash.

Trades
1.
VAN
  1. 2020 3rd round pick (PHI)
  2. 2021 4th round pick (SJS)
SJS
  1. Beagle, Jay
  2. Demko, Thatcher
Additional Details:
Team isn’t important, but I doubt San Jose is on Beagle’s no trade list. Also, they need a goalie. The main thing is using Demko as a way to package Beagle’s contract. I’d rather a 3rd and 4th than one 2nd.
2.
VAN
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (ANA)
ANA
  1. Baertschi, Sven
  2. Myers, Tyler
Additional Details:
See logic in previous trade.
3.
VAN
  1. Rodrigues, Evan [RFA Rights]
BUF
  1. Benn, Jordie
Additional Details:
Your classic “players need a change of scenery” trade
4.
WSH
  1. 2020 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Tanev is great but will get hurt. Jensen can play up the lineup. He’s also cheap enough that if a young d is ready for a full-time role, he could live in the press box or be moved in trade. #champagneproblems

Do you really think they're actually looking into myers or is it you don't love him?

Yet another case of D man signed and already looking to trade him.

Poor Myers in this case.

That Sharks trade is so bad for the Canucks.. wow.

"Tanev is great but will get hurt." Pretty much every Tanev injury has been blocking a shot aside from Getzlaf falling on his ankle with all of his body weight on a fluke play. He allows Hughes to play his style of game and with the team being better he isnt having to lay out in front of clappers as much anymore.

It’s me. I think management expect he will replace Stetcher or Tanev.

Yeah it’s bad because as people I really like the guys I’m trying to get rid of.

Don’t look at me. Dumping a bad contract and getting a 2nd (or here, two picks) is about as good as I see it getting for Demko. The Canucks have minimal leverage with the expansion draft around the corner and the goalie trade market has changed in the past several seasons.

As for Tanev, he kills penalties; it’s only a matter of time.
