And the defense still sucks lol. What a difference a calendar year makes. Petro wouldn't sign here anyway, and honestly I don't think he's a good signing for them. Great player, but it ties up too much cap space in the present. The best way to expedite the rebuilding process isn't to sign UFA's, but to weaponize cap space if indeed we have a flat cap in 20-21. Take on bad contracts like Eriksson for high picks and NHL ready talent.

Really dont want AP, not saying he isn't good just doesn't fit the direction of our team.

Leadership is fine, but in the years his contract looks bad, thats basically what you're paying for.

Whoever lands him will be paying a lot and if it makes sense for both sides could be prosperous.

All of these things you're making are telling me the same thing- he might be the most high profile free agent defenseman but there's not really a team where it makes any sense for him to sign or for them to sign him. Obviously I'm biased but he really just needs to stay with the Blues. Take the eight year deal at a discounted AAV, curse the bad luck the pandemic brought and keep trying to win cups the rest of your career.

That's exactly why I made these three posts. It seems that whatever team gives him the contract that he is likely looking for will find themselves struggling with cap management within like two years. The Devils are obviously the least likely destination, and even then they're still poorly set up. The Leafs are going to have to make some major adjustments for him. The Avalanche are risking not signing core players that need to be signed soon. Where else makes sense?
