Pens Lose Lottery and Keep Core Together:
1. Ok in this scenario the Pens have lost the lottery and have decided to keep the core together for the next year to see how things go.
2. With this said let’s see what Pens have before any moves:
a. Line 1: Zucker – Sid – Rust
b. Line 2: Jake – Malkin – Hornqvist
c. Line 3: X – Bjustad – X
d. Line 4: ZAR – Teddy – Tanev
3. Ok first move on offense is the resign Lafferty at $850k x 2 years and call up Sam Poulin as the two extra forwards.
4. Next we move Nick Bjustad and a 2021 7th rd pick to Minnesota for Jordan Greenway. We than sign Jordan to a $2M x 3 year deal.
5. Next step is to fix the goalie situation:
a. Recall DeSmith from AHL as backup
b. Resign Jarry to a $3.5M x 4 year deal as No. 1
c. Matt Murray we trade to Buffalo for Montour D (both rights). Pens than sign Montour to a $3.5M x 4 year deal.
6. Now that we have acquired Montour in the Murray trade we can assess the D thus far:
a. DP 1: Letang – Dumo
b. DP 2: Petterrson – Marino
c. DP 3: Montour – Ruhwedel
d. Extra: Call up POJ
7. For Jack Johnson we move him to Detroit along with a mid-level prospect for a draft pick. In this case I moved Hallander for a 3rd Rd. 2021 pick.
8. With the additional funds I will acquire two forwards:
a. 3C that can center a line of Greenway/Hornqvist
i. In this scenario I have acquired Haula at $3M x 3 years.
b. The second UFA is a winger to pair with Zucker and Sid. Simon is to slow and I want to get a young/speedy winger for this line.
