Description
Trades-
Matt Murray to Minnesota seems too predictable with Guerin coming out and criticizing his goaltending as well as his relationship with JR. Whether he should still have this much value or not, I still see Murray fetching a decent pick and I like Hartman as a guy that would make us a bit harder to play against.
Jarnkrok is a guy who's name I've seen thrown out here a few times and McCann is the type of speed and skill Nashville should be going after, but he was never going to be the 3C here.

There's still a lot of fat to trim off in terms of bad contracts here, but I wouldn't go crazy.
-As bad as JJ is, it's not worth giving up real assets to get off that and everything being reported is that he won't be bought out or buried so hopefully Sully will smarten up and just not play him.
-Bjugstad has been a disaster here but it's not worth dumping him at his lowest point unless your firmly up against the cap. If you get a decent offer, take it, but best case scenario is he stays healthy next year and becomes a decent trade chip or contributor. Worst case he goes back on the IR and he's off the books next year.
-Hornqvist and Letang are older guys with high cap hits but I wouldn't move them now if it's going to make this team worse in short term.

Even though I don't have them in the starting lineup, hopefully either through camp or mid way through next season the young guys like Legare, Poulin, and others push veterans for their spots in the lineup and get rid of the comfortability that seems everyone in the bottom six possesses for no reason.

I would be in the camp of Jarnkrok > McCann, so I'm not sure why Nashville is adding a 3rd in this deal. Sure, McCann is younger, but that's it.

Slight tweak to the Murray trade but I’d want the 2020 2nd round pick more. Short scouting period for next years draft.

Your not going to get it, especially with Rutherford's decision to keep your 1st this year. If we still had the 15th ova then I could see a scenario where it would be the 2020 instead of the 21. This years draft is too good and too deep into the 2nd round for us to consider giving that up with only a single 1st rounder and no 3rd this year.

Instead I'd upgrade the player going back to Pittsburgh to either Greenway or Donato. The Wild have too many LW's and Hartman despite the lower line play is more important and a RHS which we don't have too many of.

disagree. They had similar production this year and McCann is younger. and Rutherford said he wants our team getting younger so trading McCann for an older Jarnkrok makes no sense

Jarnkrok has better faceoff numbers, is much better defensively, he has better underlying numbers, they produce points at a similar rate, Jarnkrok will have the better contract, Jarnkrok is a right-handed shot which PIT is very much lacking in their forward group -- the literal only thing that McCann has over JarnKrok is that he is younger. That's it.
