Description
Deal is contingent on who LA takes at #2, Byfield or Stutzle. Ottawa can solidify their D-core for the next 10 years by taking the top-two defensemen in the draft, Drysdale and Sanderson. Wings are high on Stutzle and probably would have taken him at 2 if they had been picking at that position. If LA takes Byfield at 2, does this make sense for both teams?

*I doubt both of Sanderson and Drysdale make the NHL squad in their first year out of the draft but have added them on the lineup just to show what this team could look in the near future.

Just even going on this table that shows approximate worth of every pick moving up one spot and giving the 32nd overall would be a bad idea let alone give McIsaac as well

I certainly don’t think that Ottawa will trade their pick for anything less than an overpay but Detroit is better off keeping their pick and other assets

Why would they even do that?....

presumably if LA takes byfield, why would Ottawa get rid of the odds of Stutzle?

At the 5th pick they would likely be able to get Sanderson or Drysdale and still have solid depth on D for the future with Chabot, Thomson, Brannstrom and (Sanderson or Drysdale)
Too many top end picks on D means you'll definitely be losing some when contracts come due (presuming they all pan out)
