Sens decline, we’d rather have Abramov than Howden (who would be at best 6th on our C depth chart) and we’re not taking a cap dump when that guy is probably our #6 LHD, if we take a cap dump it’ll probably be a guy who can at least still hold down a roster spot deep in the lineup.

yeah nah.

Looks like an easy Dorion accept tbh. Recall the Dahlen deal in which he dealt an undersized recent 2nd rounder for a 4th liner making 4.5 mil on a 1 year deal. The difference here is that Ottawa is giving up a lesser, older player and getting a better cheaper player in Smith on top of a superior player to Abramov in Howden. Dorion of course really loves size and physicality and that's what he's acquiring. Would probably be a no-brainer for him.

Hawks also decline. If Ryan can duplicate last year again than maybe but Dylan has the higher ceiling and Hajek doesn't even it out

Now that’s interesting.

Abramov is in tough to ever make this team. Balcers just passed him, and Paul is ahead of him on the left side. On the right there’s CBrown and Batherson. I’ll mention Tkachuk and Dadonov, just in case. Abramov is not likely to be a 4th line player. Howden would be battling Anisimov for the 4th line centre job, and moving forward would be an asset that either keeps a spot and forces another player to be traded, or is moved again. His value is more than Abramov, hence the added Smith.

Since Smith has only 1 year remaining, and is only making $2.35MM, I do this deal.
