Negatory from the Kings. Rebuilding teams don't trade 1st round picks and top prospects for 34 year old centers.

Malkin is really good but heres my issues

1) Kings are competing for a cup so Malkin doesnt make sense.
2) Malkin isnt playing great right now so getting top value for him seems slightly unrealistic
3) He's 34 and malkin 9million so you need to consider that when moving him.... you might need to take some negative cap back

This makes sense for a nearly completed rebuild team lacking center depth like the Rags right? Even then they won't be able to afford him after next year.

The Kings aren't looking to compete over the next season or two, so this doesn't make sense for them. Even if they were feeling competitive this season, center is their deepest position. They're not going to give up multiple futures for an aging center on the decline, especially considering that he'll be a UFA next summer.

I could see a competitive team giving up a 1st or a quality prospect, but not both, for Malkin at this stage of his contract/career, presuming that Pittsburgh is willing to take back off-setting salary.
