Description
Andersson is a good player, but he should not be our top PP defenceman.

Kylington is a similar player, worse, but without the baggage. 3rd rounder makes up the value due to the retention. NYR has no bargaining power since he cleared waivers and he is essentially dead cap as he won't play another game in NY.

"NYR has no bargaining power since he cleared waivers and he is essentially dead cap as he won't play another game in NY."

when this is what you are going with, you should just not go.

because NY has plenty of bargaining power. They don't need the cap space this year, and will buy him out for less next.
And that is where the story ends.

According to Bob McKenzie Jeff Gorton said that he's not retaining on ADA or taking back a bad contract. And Calgary talk show already said that the Flames have zero interest in Deangelo so not happening.

What I don't get is if nobody picked him up on waivers and he won't take a bad contract in return for the player, then what are NYR's other options exactly?
They either
1) trade with a team who is tight to the cap (like most) and take equal value back in cap hit, which means it would have to be a value player hence 'not a bad contract'. But then who would play ball with NYR on that trade?
2) Or they package ADA with a pick or prospect. Then they would have to trade with a team with the Cap space. I don't know, sounds like they're limiting their options...

Of the teams Bob McKenzie mentioned as having interest in Tony Deangelo Anaheim, Calgary, Detroit and LA only Detroit and LA have the cap space to take him on without moving out salary. Anaheim is right up against the cap and Calgary has like $1,333,000 in cap space i guess if they moved Bennett they might be able to squeak him in. Sounds like Gorton would just be happy to buy him out this summer for the 2 years it would only cost him close to $1 million so he's a pretty cheap buy out.
