Description
Once more into the breach.
Injured Eichel agrees with Pegulas that trade sooner rather than later is preferred. Seattle sends 2021&2022 1sts to Buffalo (assume 2021 is 1st overall, 2022 is protected top-2).
LAK trades for 1st overall (Owen Power), send Turcotte and their 2021 1st along with Quick/Maatta to clear salary to improve in other areas (still has assets to trade for big-time winger, or spend on UFA targets)
Vancouver, run by Mr. Benning, clears salary and two high prospects, but gets a signed Reinhart and a cheap RHD in Will Borgen who can hit and play mean and will start as 3RHD.
MTL trades up to select Kent Johnson at #8, Buffalo is content with Chaz Lucius at #9 and adds extra picks as well as picking Cuelemans at #16. With Beniers at #2, Buffalo has plenty of high-end prospects to hit the 22/23 roster, as well as two lottery picks in 2022 draft.

You’re right the entire thing is a complete insult. Will Borgen is worth more than all those cap dumps put together.

Owen Power isn't worth Alex Turcotte and Kent Johnson. LA doesn't need cap space, they're already have $20M in space for next season. If they dump Maatta and Quick, they'll have trouble reaching the salary floor. They'd trade those guys for a handshake if someone really wanted them, but they're not going to pay to get rid of them.
