Description
Trade 1: NJD need all sorts of players and Michael McLoed hasn't worked out as the 12th pick like he was expected to be. Travis Dermott can help ur top 6 possibly their top 4. Pierre Engvall can help out you PK bc NJD PK sucks.
Trade #2 Ilya is a very very good skater but he cannot shoot, pass or stick handle for the life of him. Similar to the NJD trade is the NSH PK is also very bad ranking bottom 3 in the league this year and Ilya would work there easily and could play on your top 9 very well.
Trade #3 The CBJ are going into a full rebuild and they want big useless contracts off the books as easily as possible. Max Domi never panned out there and his 5.3M is basically 5.3M is the toilet over there. On the way back giving them picks and high(er) end prospect in return for a retained salary will be very good for them.

Reasons For FA Signings:
1) Braydon Couborn - Big Guy, can slot in at times, will nail u to the boards with a hit.
2) James Reimer - Good backup goalie, Toronto loves him and he loved Toronto, plus we need a good cheap backup for soup

Reasons For NHL FA Re-Signings: (Not AHL FA)
Hyman - Man is a workhorse and any team would love to have him. He is from Toronto and Toronto loves Hyman lol. He gets to play with great players and hopefully gonna help the team take that net step.
Foligno - Foligno didn't really play with the team at 100% health and when he did play with 100% health he got a PPG and who wouldn't want that. you would think that he would go back to CBJ but like I said CBJ is going into rebuild and why would they want to pay him if not needed.
BoGo - He played great during this 1 year with the team and bringing him back would be amazing. Ofc rn i have him on the taxi but he can be swapped with Lilly pretty easily
Spezza - He loves Toronto and Toronto loves him
Gally - He was very streaky with the Leafs and for sure isn't prime Gally but to be able to slot him into the top bc of injuries or lack of play. he will be able to contribute very well.
Wayne Train - The train def didn't show up in the playoffs but we can still use him and utilize him by his strengths
Malgin - Decent young player to keep around, can put the puck in the net on bottom lines if he gets the chance

Devils PK is bad so we aren't trading one of our best PKers.

McLeod is working out fine in NJ

Typical Dubas types of moves, this team is no better than the ones that has not made it past the first round since 2004. Dubas and Leafs fans in general need to stop setting the team up as if they are playing NHL 2021 or are running an OHL team (looks at Dubas). Cup winning teams are not built by having 4 top end talents and a bunch of crap, you need good solid players throughout the lineup.

Title: "U CANT LEAVE A TEAM WITH UNDER 500K IN CAP" - doesn't realize that with Bogosian and Galchenyuk on the active roster (since they'd require waivers to go down and likely claimed) that the cap space remaining will be $765,217. Not to mention that Joey Anderson likely makes the roster as well so now you're cap space is down to $15,217. Also worth noting that Toronto has had under $500K in cap space most of the last 2 seasons and still operated fine. They know how to move guys up and down and manipulate the cap to make it work for them - oh and they still added at the deadline this year. They're fine with the cap.

Now the trades:

Devils trade is meh. Dermott is a good bottom pair guy with a little upside and defenceman usually take longer than forwards to develop, I wouldn't give up on him yet if Seattle doesn't take him. McLeod really just hasn't had much time in the NHL to adjust. He's played basically a full season and centre is a tough position. I don't think he's been awful but he hasn't been good. At 23 I don't see New Jersey giving up on him unless they get a substantial upgrade and Dermott isn't that yet and Engvall isn't worth anything. - Both teams likely decline.

Nashville trade makes no sense for Toronto. You talk about how bad the Nashville and New Jersey PK are but I guess you don't realize that Toronto finished 24th on the PK last season? Now that's not the best judgement as the PK was much better the last 2.5 months but Mikheyev was a big part of that and moving him doesn't help. Especially for a pure offensive guy like Grimaldi who Toronto just doesn't need. Moving Mikheyev leaves Toronto with not enough PK guys so unless a new PK guy is coming back, Mikheyev stays. - Toronto declines.

That Columbus trade is just disgusting for Toronto. I'm a big fan of Domi going to Toronto and I think he eventually does but not for this kind of overpayment. Why give Columbus that many chances to hit on players when Domi hasn't panned out at all in Columbus? Domi has some value and I likely see it as around a B prospect and a mid round pick. But you've given Columbus far more than that. I mean they'd take it but this doesn't make any sense for Toronto when Domi could be a pure rental. - Leafs decline.

Bad take on Mikey Mc. At least from the start of this season. He's done being a Fortnight gamer, and brings a bunch of what I see in this year';s playoffs to our team. I think the Bastian/Wood/Mcleod trio should be hung onto for nothing short of overpayment. Send Mik with Lilj and a cap dump and lets talk
