I'll be very surprised if Perfetti is ready for the NHL next season.[/quote]
I agree. He’s not going to play 8-10 mins with the Jets next season in a checking role. He needs to play top 6 minutes and lead a PP wherever he suits up. Look at the ‘young’ players that everyone points to as lighting it up in the playoffs (see ‘Caufield’ as exhibit A). He didn’t start the year on the Habs, he played a full season (Covid-full) against college players before suiting up in the playoffs. Do I think Prefetti could play for the Jets next year, yes, but likely in the latter part of the year, he simply needs more time to develop physically and gain confidence playing at higher levels (issue with having to play in the OHL will create a challenge)
I’m also not a big fan of giving up 2 assets to Seattle. Moving down in this draft might not be horrible, with all the scouting challenges. But the Jets could easily end up with a top 10 talent slide to them in the first round. Appleton is great as a middle 6 forward, but not worth a 1st rounder in the high teens. Even the early 2nd isn’t enough to protect him. Let Seattle choose between Stanley and Appleton, and move forward.
