Description
I understand this would be an ultimate worst case scenario for Colorado but dice could fall like this so let's not assume that it's impossible. I've been saying for a while that Makar is an offersheet prey but Colorado for sure could wheel and deal to keep him.

PS: Saying "He WoN't SiGn" isn't an argument.
PPS: A four year offersheet would be the best case scenario for both the buying team and the player. Team would keep the RFA rights on him where Makar would be able to sign a new contract in a post flatcap world and at the peak of his prime ($$$), a back end base salary loaded contract would make his QO a sure bet.

ANA
  1. Makar, Cale [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
-Let's say there's an offersheet this summer, 4x10.25.
-You cannot make Erik Johnson disappear thanks to his NMC, buying him out would make you save 3M$ (4M$ in salary but 1M$ for another body to play his spot).

COL
SEA
  1. Saad, Brandon
Additional Details:
In this version Seattle takes the UFA route with Brandon Saad, rules are the same as Vegas so this applies.

Colorado elects to leave Brandon Saad exposed in the Expansion Draft. Seattle will have the opportunity to speak to Saad from the 17th to the 20th to discuss a contract. If an agreement is reach, and an official deal is signed, Saad becomes the one player Seattle has selected from the Avalanche.

There's only two men crazy enough to do offer sheets these days. One is the GM of Montreal and is fine for RHD. The other is involved in Philly.

I see an offer sheet for Makar extremely unlikely.

I mean i've seen the NJ posts they could afford him easily and spare to give up their firsts since they've drafted their core already. I think it would have to be a significant offer for colorado not to match like something 11+ though and if there's a player to spend it all on i'd probily go for makar

Saying “he won’t sign,” might not be a valid argument.

How about, “Cale Makar is not eligible to sign an offer sheet under the rules of the CBA.” I think that is, and that’s the case.

Or actually impossible due to the rules of the NHL
